Responsibilities:1. New development of products
-Responsible for development of new products and realisation of feasibility studies based on input from product management.
-Validation of new technologies as well as the preparation of product requirement documents and development functional specification documents
-Active cooperation to complete the assortment by supporting the product management in defining strategic objectives
-Responsible for the implementation of the specifications and for the determination of the internal and external product design
-Continuous communication with involved stakeholders like BU and GPG management, product/quality/project management, construction, laboratory, production, engineering in a global context
-Implementation of technical reviews on a regular basis for all ongoing new developments (Analysis of economical and technical issues as well as topics concerning the production, preparation of proposed solutions, verification of sustainability, including project management)
-Responsible for project controlling of all new developments (including monthly reporting, introduction and monitoring of corrective actions due to deviations)2. Product maintenance of existing product lines
-Securing compliance with quality requirements of current product lines by active Life Cycle Management for products
-Realisation and permanent supervision of upcoming change requests (issued e.g. by market, standardization or production) using a standardized change management process. Analysis and validation of the change requests with respect to time, cost and quality targets. Approval of changes and supply management support in terms of selecting suppliers and recalculation.
-Support of redesign projects to cut costs & to control process/ material changes to improve the products continuously e.g. (First Pass Yield)
-Regulating parts approval process together in consultation with laboratory, production and engineering and quality
-Initiating and supporting relocating projects in the course of the ABB strategy “In Region for Region” within the development perspective
-Assuring quality (e.g. certified product features) in a setup with different global production sites
-Enhancing the Operational Excellence concerning the development process by performing project reviews focusing costs, quality and service (e.g. on time delivery)
-Implementation and continuous improvement development tools and development processes
3. Monitoring of patents
-Responsible for monitoring of competitor patents and for the protection of own technologies through proprietary rights
4. Leadership/HR
-Leadership, deployment and development of the direct subordinates within the ABB HR policy
-Resource and capacity planning in consultation within the Global Product Group (GPG) and the BU R&D
5. Additional responsibilities
-Responsible for budget (budget planning and controlling) for R&D (total 61 employees)
-Supporting applications of QM-Tools (Six Sigma, FMEA, tolerance analyses) Challenges
-Responsibility for relocation and development projects from a development perspective: continuous adjustment of assigned resources
-Have an overview of the product ranges and develop platform strategy to optimise the overall cost of products
-Cost quality vs. product quality vs. delivery service
-Realisation of requirement specifications in the context of the global market and its demands, based on the product strategy of the global BU
-Obtain the OTD as well as price quality of products by adapting sourcing and suppliers
-Completing the product range with new developments Knowledge, Skills and Experience
-Degree in electronic, communication or related
-At least 4 years of professional experience in the area of product development
-Several years of experience in project management
-At least 3 years experience in managerial role
-Knowledge of door-entry system, home automation, communication, etc
-Willingness to travel
-Methodical & analytical mindset
-Fluent in English
