Job Title: Application Development Manager
Report to: Regional Sales Manager - DFS Dairy industry
Business Unit: DSM Food Specialties
Location: Shanghai


Purpose of the job:
1. To create new business by developing new products and/or applications.
2. Working at DSM Shanghai Food Innovation Centre, support on technical development and applicational implement for achieving DFS Dairy S&M plan and significant growth in China.
3. Technical and applicational development including but not limited on application development, demo preparation, sample preparation, other service request from sales team, and technical knowledge sharing within own working area and sales & marketing team.


The Position:
1. Build up and maintain application and industry knowhow and use this knowledge to generate new profitable business. Provide lab related service and technical solutions (include demo, application solution, samples) for customers and in such a way that customers are able to use Food Specialties Dairy Ingredients products.
2. Translate customer requirements into application development specifications. Support and provide technical solutions for selected KAs, include tailor made culture and enzyme solutions, new applications etc., via close working with global innovation team and local technical service manager.
3. Lab management and maintenance following DSM lab safety and management procedure.
4. Propose and, after approval, execute Product and/or Application Development projects. Which including but not limited on:
1) product sample preparation and delivery to targeted customers according to sales team’ request.
2) Support customers in producing new applications and resolve technical problems
5. Manage China diary lab team to do the demo preparation for sales and marketing team according to technical service request for customers
6. Proactively contribute to R&D and M&S in setting up innovation programs
7. Timely report the lab result and technology know-how to RSM
8. Keep align with the industry development on technology. Report general trends in application development and report on progress of own projects.
9. Provide professional suggestion to global about new product (include but not limited with culture, probiotics, enzyme)development direction based on market demanding from China and APA.
10. Organize effective technical training to both customers and sales team about trend of the industry, new development job from both local lab and global side.
11. Other job requested from dairy team. Such as: Maintain contacts with equipment suppliers in order to ensure the development of new equipment or the adaptation of existing equipment for the production of new applications
12. Comply with DSM Values, “People, Planet, Profit”, and HR policies and requirements


The Ideal：
1. More than 6 years dairy RD working experience is requested.
2. People management experience is preferred
3. Relevant scientific/technical knowledge and practical know-how about industry will be preferred.
4. Teamwork, problem solving, initiative, adaptability, performance motivation.
5. Doctor Degree of Food Science and Engineering or related major
