The Role:
As a Senior Design Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of new product designs from concept through development and ramp. You are responsible for ensuring the structural and thermal design is robust and meets the product requirements/expectations. You will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of structural mechanics under static and dynamic loading events, materials, process interactions and impact, and thermal architecture design implications. A successful candidate will be hands-on with demonstrated ability to perform computational design analysis as well as testing of complex electronic assemblies. You will also play a role in identifying and setting product integrity expectations. You will also demonstrate a strong desire to learn from new challenges, and demonstrate well developed problem solving and communication skills to work within a highly interactive, fast paced and experienced team. You will also be responsible for working with external partners, coaching and mentoring them in best known analysis principles. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to integrate feedback and to respond quickly to changing product contexts.

In this role, you will:
Conduct design analysis of complex mechanical systems and electronic assemblies to verify the design health, using structural analysis tools
Conduct testing of materials and sub-assemblies using experimental tools and techniques to understand material and technology behavior
Research into materials and technologies to explore development opportunities
Conduct validation of systems to benchmark design response and risks
Deliver risk assessments through design reviews and FMEA documentation methodologies
Engage in day-to-day basis and mentor external partners in the area of design analysis and integrity to ensure designs meet durability commits
Support failure analysis efforts - identify and assess solutions to address structural challenges
Collaborate and communicate successfully as part of a larger device team to optimize design parameters to deliver to project performance objectives
Identify and develop innovative analysis methodologies to streamline or improve risk prediction methods/accuracy
Mentor junior engineers in industry leading product design and analysis practices

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
7+ years of on-job experience in design analysis (structural and/or thermal focus) - including use of commercial analysis software solutions (like Abaqus, Flotherm, StarCCM or equivalent)
Experience in mechanical test methods and statistical analysis packages (like JMP, Reliasoft or equivalent)
Experience with 3D CAD tools like ProEngineer or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or PhD degree, with 5 years of experience in a similar role
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, including managing a team in a startup mode
