Title: SMT Engineer (working location in Kunshan)

The SMT Engineer is responsible for the development, qualification and validation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes to support Kindle products in high volume production operations. We are seeking a highly motivated engineer in the Amazon Operations team, focusing on accomplishing business objectives for our market leading consumer electronics initiatives. As a SMT Engineer, you will collaborate in identifying and qualifying appropriate equipment, processes & test fixtures as well as being a leader in resolving material, process, and design engineering concerns to ensure successful introduction, ramp and high volume manufacturing of our latest devices.
The Role:
? Leading engagements in SMT process and test design through DFx, as well as process yield, capacity and cost modeling
? Driving process and yield improvements to support our volume production goals
? Leading our efforts for root cause and corrective action for all SMT related issues
? Giving direction and oversight of process qualification, approval and documentation
? Providing guidance and oversight of SMT manufacturing and test to contract manufacturers (CM)
? Creating a quality atmosphere and ensuring the maintenance of the highest standards of product quality
? Implementing Lean principals to optimize efficiency and to reduce defect opportunities
? Review and approve design, specifications and qualifications for equipment (solder paste printer, SMT equipment, inspection equipment, etc.)

Qualifications:
? 7+ years of experience in manufacturing and process engineering
? Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or MS Preferred
? Strong understanding of SMT manufacturing and test processes, with the ability to translate into design for X (DFx) recommendations
? Experience in consumer electronics and high volume production (1M + annual production) preferred
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including experience in leading root cause and corrective action investigations
? Possessing a strong process focus
? Working knowledge of data analysis and statistics
? Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective presentation of complex data
? Demonstrated ability to start projects, to drive to completion and to achieve results
? Experience collaborating with cross-functional and remote teams
