Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct different types of research studies, including lab-based usability studies, field studies, and usability inspections (heuristic evaluations or cognitive walkthroughs).
- Collaborate with product teams to define and prioritize research questions.
- Ensure effective communication of research findings, including synthesizing them into workable design principles.
- Drive product improvements based on research findings.
- Conduct onsite and remote researches for the online digital products with users in different time zones and geographies.
- Collect and analyze user behavior through benchmark studies, lab studies, and surveys.
- Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of work experience in an applied research setting.
- Excellent analytical ability, especially with regard to observation of user behavior.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; can present findings concisely and effectively.
- Experience with the following is a plus: web technology and standards, mobile devices, accessibility and universal design, internationalization and localization.
- Primarily fluent in English and Chinese is secondary
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD a plus
- Experience with usability testing tools, such as Keynote or UserZoom.
- Internet experience.
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
- Excellent working knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
