Lead Architect

The project delivery team for arguably the premier Research and Development Campus under construction worldwide requires an experienced project architect to establish and maintain the highest international standards in the fast developing Shanghai environment. With a special focus on developing a high-quality environment the architect will be responsible for managing the critical interfaces between an international design team and the local delivery. Knowledge of the Chinese construction industry is an advantage.

Requirements:
? Bachelor degree in Architecture, Civil, Structural Engineering or equivalent
? Minimum 10 years of postgraduate working experience in building design and construction
? Demonstrable experience in the design and construction of pharmaceutical, laboratory facilities is preferred
? Looking to take a lead role on major, high-profile developments
? Looking to work with top-class international clients, architects and designers and make their ideas work in a Chinese context
? Previous experience working in multinational design and/or design/construct companies either locally or internationally is preferred
? Previous experience working with contractors to implement design intent through to client acceptance
? Good working knowledge of Chinese National Codes. An ability to discuss requirements with local authorities and Local Design Institutes
? Good understanding and ability to use, drawings and building work specifications
? Ability to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
? Sound knowledge in verifying quality of building materials & construction works and an ability to make fast recommendations.
? Able to work within a multi-disciplinary team, to resolve conflicts and deliver feedback for coordinated designs.
? An understanding of project controls concepts and a willingness to support document management and progress measurement.
? Be able to report progress and discuss issues and solutions with the client team
? Be able to communicate with all levels of staff. Good written and spoken English is essential. An ability to communicate in Mandarin is preferred.
