Job Title
QA Manager, Quality Engineering
Job Location

Reports To (Title of manager) Operation Director
Education and Special Training Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Prefer Six Sigma and CQE/CQM certification.
Qualifications and Work Experience Required 4+ years experience managing a team consisting of minimum five direct reports.
8+ years related experience in a manufacturing and product development environment.
Demonstrated consistent high level of team performance and engagement.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead divisional cross-functional project teams using relevant project management tools such as Microsoft Project.
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements: ISO 9001, Quality System Regulation and Medical Device Directive.
Working knowledge and application of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC/Process Control, Root Cause Analysis. Prefer knowledge and application of Six Sigma methodologies.
Demonstrated project and people management skills.
Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in a team environment and interact effectively with management from other functions.
Job Summary
Manage a team of engineers, production team leaders, and technicians to provide Quality Engineering support for the design and development of orthopedic implants and instruments, development and improvement of associated manufacturing processes and continuous quality improvement activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage a team of engineering professionals and technicians.
Develop, manage, maintain department budget.
Roles/responsibilities of the Quality Engineering Department are as follows:
Actively participate on new product development teams to support product and process design and development activities.
Participate in the development and improvement of the manufacturing processes for existing and new products. Review and approve inspection plans, routers and product drawings.
Work closely with Operations to resolve in-house and supplier quality problems using established problem solving methodologies (Root Cause Analysis, Mistake-Proofing, etc).
Assist in development, review and approval of process and equipment validation/qualifications (IQ, OQ & PQ).
Interface with Suppliers for new processes, quality issues and process improvements for assigned projects.
Support product transfers to other plants/facilities.
Review/approve nonconforming material and system documentation.
Review/approve product and process change control documentation and specifications.
Perform complex calibrations, first article inspections, layouts.
Lead continuous (breakthrough) improvement activity and process re-engineering projects.
