BASIC FUNCTION
Represent Mark David at suppliers and potential suppliers in the key areas of:
(1) Assessment of potential suppliers.
(2) Ongoing supplier development.
(3) Support New Product Development activity at suppliers.
(4) Pre-shipment product audit where deemed necessary.
(5) Periodic on-site audits
(6) Management and resolution of quality and supply issues.
This position will focus on the support of Mark David's Asian suppliers and will require 80% travel.
Likely to be assigned to one specific Mark David division.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
(1) Conduct detailed appraisal/approval activities on behalf of Mark David and Project Management teams, and make supplier selection recommendations commensurate with business needs. Take ownership for follow-up action required to raise supplier's capability to required standard.
(2) With established suppliers, seek to minimize the variability of purchased materials via the utilization of Supplier Quality Management techniques, tools and systems.
(3) On specific projects, work closely with Divisional New Product Development teams and supplier alike to facilitate the on-time/on-spec/on-cost launch of new products. Such activity would include supervision of process capability studies, process FMEA, first-article inspection and performance/finish test, and preparation of PPAP packages.
(4) In the case of new or re-sourced product, or following process change or quality issue, maintain presence at supplier's facility to audit both process and final product quality prior to shipment. This to be continued until confidence is achieved.
(5) Conduct periodic on-site audits at suppliers – frequency and extent to be defined in product introduction PPAP.
(6) Act as first line of defence in region in the event of quality or supply issues. Move rapidly to contain problem, establish recovery plan and expedite corrective action.
(7) All above using established tools, techniques and KOS practice.

4 Fluent in English (written and spoken). Additional fluency in one or more of the following would be an advantage: Putonghua, Cantonese, Thai, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia.

6 Well organized, manages time and projects effectively.
7 Creative problem solver with demonstrated expertise in applied KOS improvement tools.
8 Skilled as a teacher and mentor to facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
(1) Reports directly to: Associate Director – Supply Chain, Mark David
(2) Dotted-line relationship to individual responsible for supplier quality within Interiors Group.
Organisation Relationships:
(1) Frequent contact with purchasing, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering and project management staff.
(2) Continuous contact with Mark David Suppy Chain team members and divisional supplier quality staff.
External Business Relationships:
(1) Maintains business relationships with those suppliers targeted per job responsibility activity.
(2) Seeks out relationships with institutes, universities and non-competitor companies who are recognised best-practice leaders in terms of supplier quality management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Engineering (production, manufacturing or mechanical) degree required.
Four to six years experience in quality assurance, either in operations or supplier-focused role, which involved close liason with procurement and new product development. Desired industry backgrounds are either:
? Furniture (upholstered or case goods) – high end

? Domestic lighting, table and wall décor – medium to high end

Must possess expert knowledge in problem-solving and statistical techniques, including SPC. Experience of working for a foreign-invested company would be an advantage.
