Role Description
Position Purpose:
*Provide leadership and expertise in developing strategies to maximize China R&D Center (CRDC)'s value to WRD, Medical and Pfizer China business.
*Influence and contribute to WRD and corporate China/Asia strategies
*Form local core delivery platform for clinical operations and First in Human (FIH) to Proof of Concept (PoC) execution through strategic alliances.
*Lead a team of Clinical Project Managers (CPMs), who are responsible for providing expert input into clinical plans for the China portfolio. They will provide operational execution and delivery of clinical studies through oversight of the study teams
*Oversee project planning for the pre-PoC and PoC portfolio as well as China studies
*Develop collaborative relationship with all key stakeholders

Responsibility:
*In collaboration with Worldwide Dev Ops Leadership Team members, develop and refine Dev Ops Asia strategy
*Play a key role on WRD's Asia Strategy Team.
*Influence and support China/Asia strategic initiatives driven by WRD Research Units (RUs) and Partner Lines, as well as Medical and Business Units (BUs)
*Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Clinical Research teams in all Research Units
*Set up effective mechanisms to facilitate clear and timely communication with key stakeholders
*Ensure close alignment with Clinical Research and Precision Medicine (CRPM)
*Together with China Clinical Development and Operations Head, provide strong support to new product introduction to China.
*Develop a thorough understanding of China portfolio needs and directs Clinical Project Managers to provide optimal operational execution of the clinical plans for China portfolio
*Develop local clinical pharmacology unit partnerships (i.e., 'a virtual-PCRU capability') and a high-performing investigator site network that will provide close access to the hospital Phase I units for research, as well as access to special patient populations and targeted TA expertise for the optimal delivery of Phase I-II trials
*Develop operational strategies that enable rapid, efficient, high quality and cost efficient clinical trial conduct
*Work with RU Clinical Research leadership, to provide strategic input into innovative and cost effective development plan for delivering research projects
*Seek functional guidance from the Head of CRPM to ensure the full alignment with CRPM and consistent pre-PoC and PoC support.
*Collaborate with Development and Clinical Alliance Management (DCAM) to ensure seamless delivery under Dev Ops' new business model, e.g., enabling strategic partnerships, coordinating pre-PoC to post-PoC portfolio transitioning over time
*Oversee the Project Planning team that will be responsible for generation, maintenance and ongoing analysis of project schedules for all global pre-PoC and PoC and China studies to enable the corresponding Study Team and RU Clinical Research to meet global strategic imperatives
*Plan and manage budgets and resourcing for Development Strategy activities
*Report and communicate project status updates with respect to timelines, quality, operational risks, mitigation plans and cost on a regular basis to all stakeholders

Qualification:
*Substantial training and experience in Clinical R&D or Medical related field are expected.
*Additional training and experience in strategic planning and management consulting are preferred.
*PhD, MD, or equivalent is desirable.
*Business degree is desirable.
*Thorough understanding of local and international regulations applicable to clinical development
*Training in leadership skills, supervisory skills and management skills

Prior Experience Preferred
*A strategist with exceptional experience of success in leading strategy development and implementation
*Participated in strategic planning for Asia, especially China, with comprehensive understanding of China business environment and R&D landscape.
*Demonstrated strong business mindset; broad knowledge and perspective; ability to anticipate trends and paint credible pictures of future opportunities.
*A successful networker who forged strong relationships and alliances at all levels with excellent stakeholder influence skills
*Proven ability to work across multi-disciplinary groups to ensure business strategies are well communicated and implemented.
*Extensive experience with drug R&D, especially in clinical development or medical
*History of success in navigating through complex organizational relationships (internal & external) to drive and manage changes in times of ambiguity.
*A track record of leading and project managing multiple complex projects
*Practical experience in clinical trial strategies, methods and processes; deep knowledge of clinical trial design
*Good understanding of Phase I through Phase 4 clinical and regulatory operations
*Experienced line and people manager
*Extensive global experience, especially Asia
*Experience in leading (or membership of) a team responsible for clinical study conduct and delivery, am and other team leadership experience
