职位描述

Mission of function

- Project Engineer is the support function of the project manager who leads projects with the aim of completing customer projects on schedule, within the budget, with the quality and to the customers' satisfaction, also considering other interested parties (stakeholders). He acts as a controlling interface between sales, the customer and other partners. Project Engineer supports PM to fulfill the 100% owner of profit and loss for project.

Task

- 1. Responsibility for results;

- Leads project within schedule, budget and required quality;

- Ensures own economic success, thereby considering interests of other parties(stakeholders)with support from the business line or a PM coach;

- Takes on(or has taken on ) economic responsibility for the project-profit and loss;

- Represents the project(as project entrepreneur)in all decision-making committees with support from the business line or a PM coach

- 2. Contract Management

- Estimates effects of changes in requirements/products ordered with respect to:costs, project plan, total order value(as input for contract negotiations, for example)

- Conducts risk assessment of influencing factors on the project, thereby deriving appropriate get out clause for contract negotiations

- Exerts influence on the wording of the contract and arranges its inspection(in collaboration with experts) and makes sure that the result of the contract risk assessment are considered in the contract

- Draws up financing concept

- Conducts negotiations on changes in requirements and products to be supplied and records contractual changes with regard to inclusion in contracts

- Obtains approval to conclude contract and generate total order value

- Where necessary obtains support from line business or PM coach

- 3. Risk Management

- Knows sources of risks for a project, gather relevant data and makes them available

- Estimates the influence of risks in the project and assesses them from the financial point of view(e.g.economic, organizational risks, staff/skill capability, contractual risks, acceptance criteria, change request procedure)

- Assesses project partners with regard to risks

- Develops appropriate risk elimination/minimization strategies for the project and implements them, e.g. making and monitoring claims, fending off claims

- 4.Planning

- Derives project aims from contract and tender documents considering interested parties(stakeholders)-costs, schedules, functions-and draws up rough project planning

- Clearly defines overall conception of the project, e.g.

- Project overview

- Contract structure

- Detailed planning of work packages

- Resource planning

- Scheduling

- Project documentation

- Project organization

- Interface management (to other Divisions and Groups, consortium partners, suppliers, etc)

- Structure and procedure of configuration management

- Procedures for erection and commissioning

- Definition of measurement criteria and control data for the project

- Sets up project documentation structure and efficient forms of organization(e.g. infrastructure, staff,…)

- Defines procedures and requirements for quality management(inspection certificates, tests, acceptance)

- Arranges for acceptance of project planning, e.g. by the management

- Plans strategy for maintaining good relations, communicating and exchanging information with the customer and other interested parties(stakeholders)

- 5. Project controlling and reporting

- Sets up efficient procedures/processes for project controlling and reporting that always enable and up-to-date overview of the project

- Constantly analyses and monitors fulfillment of plan in terms of technical, commercial and schedule aims, also checks quality of processes and results

- Recognizes deviations in the project at an early stage, identifies causes of problems and eliminates them permanently

- Monitors cash flow planning and initiates appropriate escalation procedures

- Assesses and documents project status considering US-GAAP(together with commercial project manager)

- Regularly informs customer, management, project team and other interested parties(stakeholders)on project status

- Organizes acceptance of milestones

- 6.Completion and closing of project

- Manages acceptance of deliveries and services incl. validation and verification

- Organizes acceptance of project with the customer(calls in expert appraisers and authorities where necessary, draws up approval documents)

- Arranges for timely and correct invoicing in accordance with the contract(not allowing restrictions through customer’s conditions)

- Carries out historic costing after project closing

- Ensures completeness of project documentation as well as its proper archiving

- Organizes final project hand-over to the customer and those involved

- Ensures that project results and experience can be used again by means of a final review and Lessons Learned documentation/workshop

- Ensures project debriefings

- 7. Staff management

- Plans necessary personnel resources for the project(qualitative: skills; quantitative: number of staff)

- Determines staff deployment in consultation with line manager and ensures optimal utilization of resources

- Agrees SMRT target with project staff and delegates responsibility to the right staff

- Coaches the team/staff members and gives group/individual feedback in terms of performance and expectations in current project

- Holds meetings with staff and implements measures based on results(as or together with superior)

- Holds a meeting with each project member at the end of the project (together with superior) in order to give feedback on performance and behavior during the project and to recommend measures for future development

- Ensures targeted and complete communication within the project team

- 8. Customer Management

- Actively gathers opinions/ideas from customer and other interested parties(stakeholders) and develops/promotes them

- Maintains an open professional relationship to the customer and other stakeholders

- Knows the customer’s business and operations and considers them in any recommendations

- Involves the customer and other interested parties(stakeholders) in decision-making process and helps them to reach decisions(where necessary with support from the business line or a PM coach)

- 9. Partner Management

- Involves qualifies subcontractors/partners at the right time

- Defines the requirements and project-specific conditions to the subcontractor/partner(type, quality, date and duration of required goods/services, methods and processes to be employed, quality standards, modalities of supply and acceptance)

- Rigorous inspection of goods/services supplied by subcontractor/partner and initiates escalation process in good time should there be qualitative deficits and problems with cooperation

- Develops strategy for the resolution of problems with subcontractors/partners and implements them’-Concludes back-to-back agreements with subcontractors partners

- Negotiates requirements and conditions necessary to fulfill project with subcontractors, partners

- (when necessary with the support of the line business or a PM coach)

- 10. Financial Management

- Is familiar with established procedures for monitoring and controlling financial aspects of the project, knows demands placed by US-GAAP and follows/utilizes them

- Knows the economic indicators(scorecards) of the project and considers them in regular project calculations(and inspections)

- Interprets financial project data analogous to project progress

- Arranges invoicing/tracks outstanding invoices, checks costs and monitors expenditure and results thereof

- Is able to give information on financial data and status of the project at all times

- Is responsible for the optimization of the cash flow, setting and complying with cash points, for making financial provisions and statement of operating results

- At least 1 year for professional project execution experience in mechanical technology.
