RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Executive, Business Development will be an advisor to and collaborator with the Senior Management Team, and will be responsible for leading strategic business development initiatives. She / He will work closely with the CEO,VP,Corporate Development, investors, and other senior leaders, and will assess the company's business development strategy and performance to further drive future innovation and market growth. Other duties and responsibilities include:
Define new external opportunities and work with the senior leadership team to perform assessments, and lead potential transactions.
Develop strategic framework to analyze the company's existing business as well as new market opportunities (partner, acquire, build).
Lead strategic BD efforts, including scanning the market, establishing target lists, summarizing key targets, fit with company strategy, estimates of target size and market size/growth.
Responsible for leading negotiation teams and closing deals.
Review and provide strategic recommendations regarding company BD activities, and build a proactive, robust BD environment.
Prospect and build new business relationships with clients, suppliers, vendors, and technology partners.
Define, articulate, and lead business development opportunities including the presentation of company summaries, scientific, commercial, and financial value drivers to senior leadership team.
Plans, organizes, and provides market intelligence, communications, processes, and leadership to achieve operational, tactical, and business development objectives.
Lead due diligence and deal teams, establishing partnerships and acquiring/divesting assets while including financial forecasting, analysis, modeling, and implementation planning.
Provide sales support on behalf of Business Development Unit, for example handling small project enquiries, from enquiry through to successful conclusion.
Identify potential problems and alert senior management of any possible adverse impact. Recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements.
Establishing and maintaining industry and client contacts for continuing good relations and business opportunity development.
Design and maintain a business development dashboard for the senior management team. Developing and maintaining client profiles including updating contacts management system.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires MBA and science degree with a minimum of eight years business development experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment globally.
Prior experience in dealing with transactions, corporate partners and in negotiating and completing agreements is required.
A thorough understanding of the drug development and commercialization process.
Have a good understanding of biologics' production environment; a thorough understanding of due diligence, asset valuation, alliance integration and portfolio management.
Strong scientific and business acumen, excellent organizational and analytical skills are required.
Good ability to interpret customer requirements precisely and to communicate with development and manufacturing personnel.
Must be a team player, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and participate effectively in cross-functional teams and willing to/capable of operating in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Other requirements may include extensive contacts in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry relevant to the acquisition or licensing of targets.
Good ability to coach others and drive for business results.
Strong writing, oral communication, and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.
