A. O. Smith is a leading manufacturer of electric, gas-fired, solar, hybrid water heating appliances and water treating appliances. We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of CFD Manager, to be located in Nanjing, China. This is a full time industry position in a simulation, applied research, and product development environment.
Job Description:
As a CFD Manager, you will be a key member of the Simulation Engineering team. You will due report to the Corporate Technology Center Director and Global Engineering Center VP. You will be responsible for:
?Lead CFD team to build standard simulation method of steady state and non- steady state for flow/heat transferring/combustion by using commercial software.
?Simulation implementation in production enhancement by communicating effectively with technology, product development and platform engineering groups to enhance
?Validation and verification of simulations
?Performing Combustion and Heat Transfer simulations including pre-processing (geometry modeling and grid generation), processing, and post-processing for different applications
?Analysis of simple conceptual to fairly inclusive simulations, depending on design requirements, with the objective of system optimization
?Planning and directing experiments related to designs and/or simulations
?Writing technical documentation and presenting technical reports
Minimum Requirements:
?PhD in mechanical engineering specializing in CFD, a strong background in CFD, Combustion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer is preferred
?A minimum of two years leading a simulation team in industry to build and apply the standard simulation method for production
?A minimum of two years of related hands-on experience in industry (or academia) using ANSYS-FLUENT with strong problem-solving skills
?Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
?Field experience using SolidWorks, ANSYS workbench.
?Demonstrated applied research capabilities, technical presentation and technical report writing
?Ability to simplify complex engineering problems to expedite the simulation process whilst correctly capturing the design intent
?Capability to use C, C++ languages to generate User Defined Functions (UDF’s) for use with commercial CFD software
?Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
?Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
?Practical sense and discerning ability (good judgment)
?A willingness to travel
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
?Strong background in simulation in one or all of the following: combustion (reaction modeling using chemical equilibrium chemistry and/or finite-rate chemistry models), turbulent flows, heat transfer and acoustics/noise
?Familiarity with 1-D system modeling is a plus
?Familiarity with FEA modeling is a plus
?Broad knowledge of engineering related to gas products, electric products, HVAC products or consumer appliance design is highly desirable
?Experimental testing background will help the candidate
?Familiarity with post-processing tools is a plus.
