Basic Job Description
Create the customer experience for the next generation of home appliances. As an Industrial Designer, you will develop innovative products from concept to reality.This will challenge you to bring your experience with form, materials and manufacturing, and a passion to create innovative products that are functional, appealing and in touch with today’s trends. You will combine artistic talent with research on product use, marketing, and materials to understand emerging trends, seek out real-life insights, conceive user interface design solutions, and assure uncompromising usability. You will oversee the product design and development process, from initial research through production, ensuring that our products continue to be recognized for quality and innovation.

Job Responsibilities
Lead the design and development vision and roadmap for the next generation of home appliances and assist in the development of a good design culture and set of processes.
Oversee design projects from concept ideation, initial research, project parameter definition, product requirements through production, ensuring that the products are recognized for quality and innovation.
Maintain a continued understanding of the marketplace, competition, industry, methods and relevant trends to ensure optimal industrial design value is achieved.
Conduct research into cost, properties of production materials and methods of production to identify the sustainability and availability of new materials to use in future home appliances products.
Inform the final material choices, colors, finishes and understand how this will impact manufacturing processes and cost.
Understand manufacturing technology/processes and create inspiring designs that challenge the marketplace, developing around manufacturing and financial constraints and knowing what it takes to bring real products to market.
Manage in-house and out-of-house prototyping services to build aesthetics and functional to project specifications.
Integrate user experience, human factors and ergonomic considerations in product designs
Forge strong internal relationships with R&D, engineering, product management, sales and marketing teams and also strong external relationships with external designer firms and contract manufacturers to ensure product development objectives and timelines are met.

Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor Degree in Industrial/Product Design from an accredited school.
Minimum 3 (5) years related work experience in industrial design and product development.
Excellent design portfolio, preferably with domain knowledge in home appliance design.
Strong 3D computer modeling and mechanical design skills.
Profound understanding of design principles, product development process and a developed aesthetic sense.
Ability to interpret relevant design trends and consumer insights into compelling, brand-appropriate design concepts.
Adaptability and flexibility to change as designs and processes improve over time.
Understanding of brand identity and positioning in relation to product design and ability to adapt concepts to support brand identity.
Proven ability for strategic thinking and passion for innovation
Excellent project management, planning and creative problem-solving skills.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines and diverse group of people.
