POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will cover the Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan region and will report into the General Manager of Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. He / she supports the team in Strategy development, long range planning, deal assessment, negotiation and execution.

This role is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing leader of online payments, in a position with strong executive visibility, and a clear path towards a subsequent regional leadership role.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director, Strategy & Business Development will have the following responsibilities:

Strategy Development

• 
  
  • Work closely with the Business Unit's management team and the Regional Strategy & Business Development team to assess, develop, coordinate and implement PayPal's Strategy and strategic initiatives within the BU's portfolio of markets. This includes:
    
    
    
    • Defining the long term vision, target market definition, and strategic priorities, as well as annual corporate priorities
    • Help identifying and prioritizing new business opportunities to support achievement of PayPal's strategic goals
    • Developing "Go to market" strategies for new business opportunities with BU and functional leaders
  • Lead the participation and output required for PayPal's strategic planning and quarterly business review process
  • Develop and deliver presentations to communicate BU's Strategy to regional Senior Management, Executive teams, employees, and potential partners and external constituents
  • Support the market intelligence team in developing insights about key industry trends (technology, competitors, consumers, regulatory etc.) and inform the organization of their strategic implications
  • Lead "research" type engagements to develop and articulate PayPal's position on long-term strategic issues
  • Work with counterparts in other eBay Inc. affiliates to identify synergistic opportunities, quickly assess and short-list highest value opportunities and build early implementation plans and resources requirements
• Strategy Execution
  
  
  
  • Structure and lead complex strategic projects with the BU teams. Lead and/or support strategic projects from the initial pitch to the execution phase.
  • Facilitate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams, liaise and communicate with senior management.
  • Lead individual projects relating to broader emerging consumer, payment, e-commerce, competitive and related industry trends.
• New venture exploration and M&A execution
  
  
  
  • Through outputs from priorities emerging from Strategy work and with Business Development to identify targets.
  • Lead in the performance of due diligence, financial analysis and business case development.
  • Where appropriate, work with international corporate development colleagues to progress opportunities.
