1. Main purpose of the role
- Assist Software Group manager in software competence building
- Be responsible for Software Requirement analysis, SW design and quality in assigned projects
- Co-responsible for SW roadmap creation and execution
- Lead Software Architect team

2 Organisation context of role
a. Products/services:
GDC SW group provide SW solutions to various BG/GBUs within Section Lighting, e.g. BG lamp, BG profession Luminaries, all GBUs within BG LS&C.
The products delivery by GBUs are:
- Intelligent lamps
- Solar road lighting
- efluo ballast
- eHID ballast
- Controls boxes, sensors
- etc…
Where involved embedded software as well as PC application software.

b. Position in value chain:
GDC software group is a competence group providing services/solutions to GBUs. Our key stakeholders are:
- GBU Lamp drivers
- GBU Controls
- GBU LED systems
- GBU HID lamps and specialties
- Professional Luminaries

3 Job description

？ Responsible for the creation/maintenance of the software architecture in modular, easy to maintain and extendible parts (components and modules).
？ Technically responsible for the software in (sub-)projects.
？ Responsible for the integration of software.
？ Guides the Software Engineers in the design and implementation of the parts of a subsystem.
？ Advises the System Architect regarding choices of what has to be achieved in hardware and what in software, and advises on make-or-buy decisions.
？ Co-defines required hardware/software interface in close consultation with the technical experts.
？ Advises on internal development or outsourcing.
？ Has an important say in the choice of development environment and has ultimate responsibility for the software top-level design.
？ Is abreast of / participates in standards.
