Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for quality assurance policy and procedures.

1) Provides leadership developing and directing quality improvement initiatives for all company products.
2) Monitors QA systems and advises executive team on system performance; publishes statistics regarding performance against set goals.
3) Collaborates with Product Managers on product development to ensure quality issues are reported and resolved with all products and samples.
4) Establishes and maintains a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and reporting systems.
5) Oversees the storage and maintenance of QA control documentation.
6) Oversees the creation of all product documentation and owner’s manuals post buy.
2. Responsible for the management of direct reports.
1) Supervises the Product Development and Quality Technicians, including, delegation, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
2) Coaches and leads direct reports, monitors and manages performance, develops performance plans, sets and reviews goals on an individual basis and coaches employees on career development.
3) Ensures employees acquire and maintain extensive product knowledge and quality standards of the full range of products and services.
4) Ensures that all reporting staff members are following company policy including health and safety policies and procedures
5) Ensures that the issues arising from product quality auditing and testing are being reported and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
6) Ensures that Service Bulletins are being created in an accurate and timely fashion and sent out to service depots within a specific time frame.
7) Ensures that technical consulting and training is provided to internal departments or customers as needed.

3. Responsible for the evaluation of sample & competitor products
1) Oversees the audit process including procedures and documentation of all findings
2) Ensures resulting evaluation reports are made in a timely and accurate manner
3) Provides resulting information to the Product Development Team as needed
4. Responsible for safety standards compliance.
1) Ensures product is compliant with applicable government standards NRCAN, EPA, DOE and CEC.
2) Keeps informed of changes to standards and lobbies agencies on company’s behalf when appropriate.
3) Ensures that account product setups in collaboration with the Product Engineering Manager, follows all safety certifications requirements as well as customer requirements.
4) Coordinates safety approvals from NRCAN, EPA, DOE and CEC and provides resulting reports to Product Development Team and executive team.
5) Provides assistance with testing in safety failure investigations and reporting when product has allegedly caused a fire etc.
5. Member of the Product Development Team
1) Works with Marketing Manager, Product Managers and Purchasing to introduce new designs or features to products
2) Provides data from audits and testing and makes recommendations to improve products based on reports.
3) Assists in the evaluation and determination of whether new models or new products should be added to product line.


Knowledge & Education Required
Candidates must have a college or university degree in Quality Assurance with 5 years direct experience in refrigeration and home comfort appliances at a management level. Must be able to demonstrate strong business skills related to building quality assurance systems, understanding best practices, analyzing and reporting data and effectively leading, monitoring and developing direct reports. Candidates must also have excellent communication and project management skills. Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.

Working Conditions
The Quality Assurance Manager works in an office setting. Data entry is required on a daily basis. Occasional overseas travel is required of the individual in this position.
