As a critical member of a global multidisciplinary team with design, engineering and manufacturing partners, you will play a highly impactful role of researching and developing new material concepts to deliver breakthrough experiences for our products. By leading the development of new coatings and substrate surface finishes, you will help create products that are highly functional to our customers.

Responsibilities:

- Create and develop the coatings roadmap that enables future design and product development, in close cooperation with industrial designers, product designers as well as manufacturing partners

- Engage with global coating suppliers on multiple projects at once, ensure material DOEs are carried out, analyze test results and help select the best material for an application.

- Work closely with Corporate Sustainability, Product Design, Industrial Design, Operations and Reliability teams on material qualification and pass all product level testing.

- Travel to factories in Asia to provide on-site support for project trials and builds.

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory

- BS degree in one of the following or similar focus areas: Materials Science,Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering or similar field, or equivalent practical experience. 

- 3 years of relevant industrial work experience with coatings/inks, metal surface finishes in engineering design and mass-manufacturing (consumer products, automotive or other). 

- Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically. 

Desired

- MS degree or higher in Materials Science,Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering or similar field. 

- 5 years of direct industrial work experience in coatings/inks/metallic finishes. 

- Expertise in organic paint formulations; PU, Acrylic, Silicone, optical coatings - Expertise in metallic finishes for Aluminium (anodizing), stainless steel , PVD, plating etc. 

- Expertise in application processes of coatings/ink and metallic processes such as PVD, plating etc. 

- Excellent communicator with the ability to work in multidisciplinary, highly cross-functional and global teams. 

- Expertise in fundamental failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure 

- Self-starter, proactive with developed problem-solving skills. 

- Ability to travel to various vendor site locations
