Risk

Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

In this role, you will:

− To be responsible for the oversight of the distribution risks in the retail Wealth management business for HSBC in China, ensuring that Wealth products and services provided to clients are suitable and the risks of potential mis-selling are managed and mitigated through a needs-based sales process.

− To represent RBWM Risk as a second-line-of-defense control function at the Wealth Management Oversight Committee and other relevant local governance committees in approving or recommending Wealth products and services in a prudent and timely manner, highlighting any key risks to RBWM and proposing mitigating actions.

− To work closely with the Wealth Management business to ensure that current and new initiatives operate within the defined risk appetite, and highlighting and escalating top current and emerging risks where required to senior management in a timely manner.

− To work closely with other risk and control partners, including Regulatory Compliance and Legal, to ensure that RBWM operates at all times in accordance with regulations in the Wealth industry, and also taking into consideration the Group’s conduct risk agenda.

− To ensure the HBCN Wealth business operates in accordance to the standards set out in the Wealth Risk Framework and other HSBC internal policies and guidelines, by continually reassessing the business and operational risks by taking account of economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, the Group’s risk appetite and operating procedures and practices.

− To undertake periodic business reviews, based on the Global Wealth Risk annual assurance review plan on key risk areas identified in the Wealth business.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
− At least 10 years working experience in banking / finance industry, with experience in risk management
− Bachelor degree holder, major in Economics, Business, or Finance related discipline.
− Relevant professional qualification, such as CFA, CFP, FRM or equivalent advantageous
− Sound knowledge in wealth management products essential, with risk management / control environment advantageous
− Ability to work independently, with solid communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
− Strong analysis, decision-making and risk management and evaluation skills
− Proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
