Key Responsibilities

Lead and secure
? Initiate and lead material & technology development projects and provide trends and technical development from the market
? Identify & use production and material potentials in the product development and communicate to merchant teams.
? Make sure WSI leather standards are up to date and suitable for use.
? Participates in product development projects actively and support developing new materials & technologies in alignment with the category materials needs to secure WSI’s long term objectives.
? Special responsibility in introduction of the new material/technology, phases of scaling, grading, specification implementation across specific category.
? The speaking partner to merchanding and sourcing teams and other cross category in all aspects from a technical perspective in bringing know-how regarding construction, material, production and technical capability.
? Together with the PD team secure an effective utilization and implementation of new materials and technologies in the product development process to achieve better quality and lower cost

Implement & Follow up
? Accountable for upholding and communicating specifications and standards within assigned material and technique area
? Continuously search for and be updated on developments in the assigned specialist area (internal and external)
? Secure knowledge sharing and conduct material specific trainings
? Standardization of existing and proven material and secure coherence to standard across category

Desirable Qualifications and Competencies:

Core Competences:
? Very good knowledge of category specific material and production processes of leather value chain, production processes, very good understanding on technical knowledge of leather grading.
? Good knowledge about production of leather goods and upholstery
? Have a holistic view upon business, from supplier to the customer
? Experience of leading projects in complex environment
? Insights into the work of product requirements and compliance
? Good knowledge in product development processes
? Very good knowledge in the assigned specialist area, university degree or extensive working experience of product development, engineering, technical development or production
? Knowledge of current and future demands on materials from a healthy/ environmental friendly and sustainability perspective
? Fluent in English, both spoken and written

- Capability to build trust and relationships through effective communication
- Result oriented, high energy and self-driven way of working to deliver better products to exceed customer expectations
