职位描述
1. Purpose
The job holder will support the technical storage environment housing some of the most critical business systems at company. She/he will lead support activities to keep the storage environment optimally tuned and available to the application teams and the business community.
She/he will be working closely with a contractor and other technical associates, including a resource in the AM region, to complete most of the technical day to day activities. In addition there will be close interaction with key customers, mostly other technical teams, across the globe to ensure expectations are met.
2. Key Accountabilities - Summary
· Technical Management:
o Lead the technical activities for multiple storage frames for multiple storage vendors (EMC Symmetric and HP 3PAR & EVA) and Backup solution (HP Data Protector).
· Others:
o Travel: International trip perhaps once a year
o Week-end work: Lead, manage and/or execute technical activities over multiple week-ends (at least 8) throughout the year during planned outages
o Call-out work: Be available for support activities at all hours.
o Global conferences: Available for after hours audio conferences with AM region
3. Key Accountabilities and Activities
· Line Management
o Manage activities for an on site contract resource
o Propose team processes (and associated metrics) improvements based onto the ITIL v3 framework.
· Global Leadership
o Represent the team to other technical teams within the organization
o Support the other technical team leads in their overall activities such as performance improvement, system upgrades, or any other general technical management such as archiving or disaster recovery
o Attend relevant crisis calls and lead team activities
· Technology Management
o Own and lead the technical activities across all storage technologies
o Ensure any incidents related to storage are resolved in a timely manner
o Analyze the incidents and potential risks identified by the vendors for each of the technologies and isolate the relevant problems
o Pro-actively address issues identified through the on-going monitoring of the storage environment and complete the required tuning to resolve the issues
o Participate in resolving problems in collaboration with the company IS Application teams and Technology teams (such as server, backup, network, ^) as well as their deployment planning
o Ensure all storage requirements are delivered within agreed SLA timeframe
o Analyze and report on storage infrastructure performance and capacity trends
o Execute some of the technical activities to maintain practical technical knowledge and documentation accuracy
· Knowledge Management
o Work closely with the storage technology development team to ensure smooth support take on of new storage devices and technologies
o Maintain the team knowledge for the technical landscape including the Associate knowledge as well as all knowledge databases (e.g. wikispace and Lotus Notes database)
o Continuously develop self and team knowledge for the storage technology and all relevant technologies
o Develop team knowledge and processes according to the industry best practices such as ITIL v3 and Company IS frameworks such as EBC4T
· Project Management
o Lead medium term projects (up to 6 months) linked to technology and process improvements
· Vendor Management
o Support the supplier service delivery review with the local team manager
o Gain expert level support from software vendors and consultants
o Lead architecture reviews with specific vendor experts (EMC, HP 3PAR & EVA, HP Data Protector, CISCO/Brocade Fiber Switch)
o Support the Company IS Commercial vendor review process by providing own input
o Escalate issues and questions to the vendor key Account Managers
4. Competencies - Experience - Skills
· Key competencies (Ideal profile for that position - look for experiences that support those competencies)
Managing & Measuring Work: able to spread large numbers of technical tasks across a long period of time up to a year in a coherent and consistent way with the right priority. Make the right trade-off for the right priority and best business case (e.g. cost and effort versus benefits)
Customer Focus: address team customer expectations for specific tasks disturbing production or any project activity. Review customer requirements and agree way forward to fulfill them or provide a workaround. Measure and manage the delivery through metrics linked to the user experience. Provide the right information level to demonstrate control over any activity, project or issue.
Relationship Management: able to operate within a global peer network with very different nationalities and a very diverse customer group with opposite interests and types of requirements (examples: project versus support, performance versus stability and change versus non-change)
Process Management: adhere to team process by delivering a flawless change management execution and by addressing the key problems encountered throughout the system landscape
Time Management: balance personal time between all the priorities of the position as well as the various applications managed
Planning: be able to plan 1 year ahead for technical activities and 6 months for projects
Timely Decision Making: able to make critical decisions with minimum supervision and guidance
Functional and Technical skills: practical knowledge of different technologies related to client server architectures - ideally knowledge in one of more of the application software packages within the team scope
Technical Learning: able to learn multiple technologies in parallel as well as applications with fundamental purposes and architectures (SAP versus Hyperion versus Manugistics)
Problem Solving: able to solve complex technical problems by incorporating others perspective and own experience as well as the vendor input
· Technical experience and skills
- Minimum
3 years experience working with EMC Symmetrix frames, HP 3PAR & EVA frames.
3 years experience working with HP Data Protector
2 years experience with Cisco switches and SAN fabrics
Global operational experience and multi-culture awareness
Working experience with EMC management tools such as ECC, SymCLI, Navisphere
Familiarity with Linux/UNIX technologies
Familiarity with networking technologies
- Would be a plus
Exposure to other vendor storage technologies
Exposure to ITIL process. Good experience of change, configuration and release management.
· Language:
Strong verbal and written English language skills
