The Press Officer will provide public relations and communications services to Halma's subsidiaries in China. While you will work autonomously, you will be part of a larger team of seven press officers, four of which are based at Halma's head office in Amersham, United Kingdom and two in Cincinnati, USA. You will report to the Group PR Manager, who is based in the UK, and also to the Marketing Manager, based in Shanghai.



Specific responsibilities include:

Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
Researching, writing and distributing press releases and articles
Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations
Coordinating media interviews
Organising press conferences
Commissioning photography and video
Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies and web content
Assisting the sales and marketing teams with organising exhibitions
Monitoring media coverage and producing regular reports
Developing relationships with journalists and local government officials
Developing relationships with business organisations such as industrial associations, Chamber of Commerce, trade associations and governments
Initiating innovative communications program through social media or other emerging technology


Qualifications and Experience:

A Bachelor degree in PR, marketing or a related area would be helpful, but is not essential - we will consider candidates with degrees in other subjects
At least two years' experience in PR/media relations or marketing, preferably with a multinational business-to-business company
Strong writing skills with good written and spoken English
Good knowledge of the business and technical media environment in China, including local and international media outlets
Capable of working autonomously and under pressure
Self-confident, outgoing and articulate
Clear, concise communicator with good presentation skills
Other skills, such as graphic design, photography, video production or web design would be useful
Knowledge and experience of digital communications and social media
