The Applications & Services Business Development team is looking for a seasoned Business Development professional to join our team to support the growth of Skype, Bing and Office. This role will be part of a team that creating new opportunities through partnerships.
The role will require close collaboration with other members in Business Development as well as Marketing, Finance, and Legal and will support the localization of our global strategy into local go-to-market execution. You will be expected to spend a significant amount of your time on partnership development and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Account lead for specific partner(s) and harvesting additional value for existing partnerships.
- Business development lead for establishing new partnerships, analyzing new opportunities; prioritize work, refine and recommend collaboration and proposition framework.
- Execute initiative tracking and analysis.
- Support Channel / Partner marketing initiatives through collaboration with marketing teams.
- Provide market insights and intelligence to internal teams and manager.
Candidate Profile
- Business experience (6+ years) in a BD or alliance management role - ideally in the telecommunications or Internet communications industry.
- Solid partnership & relationship management + strong commercial acumen/business development skills negotiating and closing complex deals.
- Success will require working with a partner over multiple years to build a substantial consumer growth and revenue stream for both.
- Prior experience in business development functions a strong plus.
- Internet or telecom market knowledge.
- Having a clear understanding of local market insights and being able to provide assertive input and influence to product development and marketing efforts are key for the success of this role.
This individual must:
- Bring strong business planning, analytical and communication skills, with good attention to detail.
- Preferred technical background in internet technologies or related exspreicence.
- Been able to work with ambiguity and bring global concepts to the local market.
- Show proven ability to manage and deliver complex business projects.
- Be self-starter, with entrepreneurial drive and passion to succeed.
- Thrive on building long-term, sustainable and successful win-win partnerships.
- Have strong commercial acumen; deal and commercial negotiation at any level (within pre-approved parameters) are a critical part of the job.
- Partner management track record includes sales, account management and/or business development.
- Partner management responsibilities must have included negotiating and closing successful complex partnership deals and driving substantial account growth.
- Relevant industries include Software, Telecom, Mobile Phones, Web/Internet, Communications Services, and Consumer Electronics
- Internet Product Management, Product Marketing and related technical fields preferred.
- Deep understanding of cultural differences that are relevant to the region of responsibility.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Fluent in English & Putonghua required.
- Relevant working experience required
- Degree qualified prefered, Engineering would be a plus
- MBA or EMBA referred.
