Position Title: MS Chinese Math Teacher

Position Description:

The MS Chinese Math Teacher will teach Mathematics at NCPA instructing middle school in Chinese Middle School Mathematics or related subjects. The MS Chinese Math Teacher will follow the approved NCPA Curriculum. In support of these overarching responsibilities, the MS Chinese Math Teacher has these specific duties:
1.Be fluent in the curriculum, instruction and assessment frameworks of NCPA. NCPA has adopted the Chinese National Mathematics curriculum.
2. Be fluent in instructional pedagogy, especially for students of age 12 - 14
3. Be a scholar of his/her own practice. The MS Chinese Math Teacher will gather evidence of student learning with the express purpose of improving instruction.
4. Work with other members of the Mathematics Department in developing instruction, assessment, grading, and reporting practices in accordance with NCPA frameworks and the guidance of the department chair.
5. Develops the curriculum in accordance with the principles articulated by the Curriculum Coordinator.
6. Co-develop with their supervisor, the Middle School Principal, a professional growth plan.

Qualifications:

The MS Chinese Math Teacher must be qualified as follows:
1. He/she have a Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education or equivalent program.
2. A Master degree in Mathematics Education would be preferable.
3. He/she must have a minimum of five years experience as a classroom teacher, previous experience teaching Middle School Math courses is required.
4. He/she must be certified as a secondary Math teacher.
5. Interest in Chinese student preparation for higher education in western English-speaking universities.
6. Strong classroom management skills, especially students age 12-14.
7. Excellent communication skills and team interaction skills.
8. Flexibility in adjusting to organizational growth.
9. Fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
