Role overview
This senior role will report directly to the MD China, with a dotted line to the CEO Greater China, and will be part of the Greater China Executive leadership team.
Key responsibilities will include growing the brand strategy practice, creating the strategy, growing and training the team, leading new business development and reputation activities, heading up key client relationships, managing key projects including the design, analysis, development and delivery of strategic recommendations.
Essential to success will be the ability to effectively lead and partner with cross functional teams of consumer and cultural insight specialists to design and deliver actionable and inspiring marketing solutions for clients.
Specifically, this role will be expected to lead client engagements and develop actionable brand growth recommendations relating to:
? Portfolio planning
? Brand positioning & activation
? Brand equity management and architecture
? Innovation & renovation (ideation, concept generation, optimization and evaluation)
? Brand expression and experience (design brief for optimizing brand experience, messaging across touch-points, path to purchase strategy)

The role requires a director/partner level candidate of the highest calibre. We’re looking for
someone with a proven record of commercial success and effective leadership skills. In this quick
moving market, an entrepreneurial edge is essential.
The ideal candidate will currently be a brand strategy consultant at Director or Partner level in a
relevant marketing services organization (brand or innovation consultancy, a marketing role in a
management consultancy, or brand strategist in a branding/design consultancy).
They’ll have a minimum of 12yrs + marketing/brand planning experience and have proven success
building strong client relationships, leading teams and demonstrate expertise leveraging consumer
insight to inform and inspire marketing and brand strategy recommendations. Ideally, they will have
managed large, ideally international projects across marketing and insight with a focus on driving
strategic brand and business growth.

Commercial skills

and adaptable, able to bounce back when things don’t go to plan
? A “business getter” as well as a “business builder”: generates incremental revenue, able to sell
brand strategy solutions to existing clients as well as build profitable new relationships, ideally,
has a network of senior level business contacts in Greater China
? Commercial astute: mindful of organizational and market constraints facing clients in China,
creative, yet pragmatic. Finds ingenious solutions and demonstrates strong business acumen and
critical thinking skills.
Leadership skills
? An effective leader: a hand’s on leader, adept at unleashing team’s talents and skills, able to set a
clear strategy, able to effectively motivate and mentor others to deliver high performance,
building practice reputation and repeat business
? Gravitas to inspire senior client confidence: at Marketing Director/CEO/Board level, persuasive
and inspiring presenter, able to authoritatively deliver an informed pov across a broad spectrum
of brand marketing, insight and innovation related areas
? Brand strategy thought-leader: up-to-date with latest brand building practices, keen to pioneer
brand offer in China, share China brand and marketing expertise with global colleagues
Culturally connected & technological skills
? Digitally savvy: up-to-date with on-line world, social networking, mobile etc and implications for
brand building/insight gathering practices, able to exploit latest technology in client’s interest
? Consumer insight advocate: believer in insight-inspired brand planning, draws on experiences
managing qual & quant, interested in more emergent practices (semiotics, archetypes, etc)
Language skills
? Fluent in English, ideally with China experience and Mandarin speaking preferred
