Overall Objective:
Manage Publishing product (Core Print, Digital, Learning) portfolio and aggressively expand development of new editorial/content for Greater China Publishing, with an eye toward content that could potentially extend beyond Publishing.
Responsibilities:
- Working with Greater China Disney Publishing team and licensees, develop publishing product plans that ensure full coverage of various distribution channels with appropriate product formats, properties and segments (e.g. pricing)
- Investigate, pursue and manage acquisition and/or development of new local content
- Lead and participate in creative brainstorming efforts in- and outside of Publishing to develop new content ideas, generate interest and support from other LOB’s, and drive new Disney-branded and non-Disney-branded initiatives
- Team with Home Entertainment, DI, TV Team, Local Content, DCP Merch LOBs to launch co-developed products that include publishing elements
- Create editorial and art tools for licensees and schedule bi-monthly/quarterly updates with licensees to ensure they are receiving the most current and comprehensive editorial assets possible. Conduct editorial reviews (as part of business reviews) with licensees to ensure they are on track as per plans
- Direct editorial concepts and submissions (for art and edit) ensuring editorial is “on brand” and conforming to merchandising needs (e.g. Princess branding with pink books)
- Working with Greater China Disney Publishing account managers to provide general editorial & creative support to Greater China marketing and sales, with the creation of catalogs and/or fact sheets.
- Working with account managers, conceptualize and pitch as necessary custom publishing products for BtoB opportunities
Requirements
3+ years children’s publishing experience primarily within mainland China
Strong working knowledge of Chinese consumer publishing demands
Knowledge of educational products, a plus
Knowledge of comics, a plus
Knowledge of digital publishing, a plus
Excellent communication and presentation skills (English and Mandarin)
Creative visionary with ability to build new publishing traditions (e.g. refresh old classics, or establish brand-new ideas that could become classics)
