Reports to: SMSG Readiness GCR
The China Lead Field Sales Coach is responsible for elevating the skills and knowledge of sales employees in PRC, and bridging the gap between formal sales training and processes and the reality of day-to-day success of our employees. In particular, this role is focused on enabling the success of new hires who are joining Microsoft as part of the China Go Big Initiative.
The Lead Field Sales Coach is a senior sales professional who partners with senior sales and business leaders such as the General Managers leading each province and the GMs leading the sales segments, to understand capability and performance needs, and personally delivers coaching, skills development, learner assessment and capability development programs.
The Lead Field Sales Coach needs a strong background in sales and sales management, a passion for developing others, ability to work with senior leaders on people development plans and topics, ability to deal with ambiguity and be flexible and great understanding of the processes, products and resources involved in selling at Microsoft.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leadership Engagement and Reporting
- Develop and maintain relationships with GM+ level sales leaders and create a closed feedback loop
- Partner with senior leaders to understand business priorities and area of focus in order to direct coaching focus
- Report to senior leaders on coaching outcomes - strengths, areas of improvement, observations and recommendations
- Sales Coaching Delivery
- Help employees bridge the gap between formal classroom/online training and their day jobs in order to drive business goal success
- Deliver individual and group coaching to new and experienced employees around sales resources, processes, skills in order to develop stronger sales skills.
- Observe sales calls and help coach employees on their performance
- Assess employee skills capability through both formal assessment and observation
- Deliver or co-deliver sales training courses
- Travel is required around PRC (50-60%).
- Scale Learnings Through Programs
- Develop approaches that scale learnings from coaching,
- Drive and facilitate SMSG Readiness programs such as workshops, best practice sharing
- Provide feedback to SMSG Readiness and HR on how we can improve our onboarding and training of new employees
Requirements:
- A solid track record of sales & sales management in China as supported by:
- A minimum of ten years sales experience in multinational companies
Strong knowledge of Microsoft sales processes and practical experience inside those processes
- Proven coaching and people management skills
- Learning program facilitation experiences is a plus
- BA/BS minimum required
- Energetic, passionate around people development open to and proactive in seeking new ideas, resilient
- Ability to function in an ambiguous, high growth, high pressure business environment
- Proven ability to develop goals and strategies based on business needs
- Flexible style in handling changing priorities and needs
- Able to execute for today while planning for tomorrow
- Understanding of people development strategy and execution
- Systematic Thinking Capabilities, Business Acumen & Organization Insights as shown by:
- Demonstrated business results and understanding of key business drivers and strategy
Capacity to think systemically and understand and navigate large scale systems
Solid program effectiveness monitoring & tracking approach
- Has the ability to discuss business and strategic issues with key stakeholders
Quickly understand organization dynamic and set up network
- Communication, Collaboration and Influencing skills as evidenced by:
- Strong cross-group collaboration skills in a multi-cultural, matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability to work with all level of management and build effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate clearly with senior leaders on people development (in English and Chinese)
- Stakeholder management skill
- English (good) and Mandarin (native speaker) fluency both written and oral
