In the years ahead, Microsoft has a unique opportunity to grow one of its largest and most profitable businesses, the Windows Client business, for one of the most strategic growth markets in the world, China. A priority growth opportunity will be in the commercial and public sector segments where organizations will be driving large-scale migrations and upgrades to the latest available Windows Operating System (OS). Over the coming years, China will face the largest OS migration ever, and this presents great opportunity for Microsoft to help customers accelerate these deployments and for Microsoft partners to deliver value added deployment services.
The Product Marketing Manager for Partner and Commercial Awareness Marketing will be responsible for defining and executing a marketing plan to create strong commercial awareness for the latest version of Windows and firmly establish the positive perception and demand for latest version of Windows in the enterprise. This position will also be responsible for defining and executing partner capacity and readiness plan to ensure Microsoft enables the necessary partner services across China to meet the customer needs for upgrade and deployment to the latest Windows OS.
In this position, you will work closely with an internal virtual team across China and corporate HQ as well as local customers and partners. The key audiences with which you will be connecting include:
- Work with China partner sales teams to develop and execute a strong partner recruitment and readiness plan
- Work with an extended group of marketing managers to develop and execute commercial awareness plans across audience marketing, PR and other commercial 1-few, 1-many marketing vehicles
- Liaise with corporate product marketing organization to leverage content, strategy, and resource support to build the partner capability in China
- Work with outside vendors to execute plans
- Engagement directly with Microsoft partner and customers
Key Responsibilities
This job includes a combination of leading and executing commercial awareness plans for Windows BG, partner capacity and readiness plan and also driving strong project management and cross-group collaboration. Specific responsibilities include:
Commercial Partner Capacity and Readiness
- Define Windows partner opportunity map and value proposition - Work with corporate product marketing to leverage global partner value proposition and customize for local market environment.
- Partner Capacity Planning and Execution
- Work with peer product marketing managers to understand market opportunity and overall Windows business goals
- Lead a cross-group effort to define a partner opportunity map and capacity required for each partner opportunity
- Define a plan to recruit the required partner capacity with resources required.
- Partner Readiness Planning and Execution
- Lead a cross-group effort to define the partner readiness plan with resources and support required for execution
- Work with partner enablement teams to execute quality partner readiness activities that drive partner capability required by customers and resulting in measurable, high customer satisfaction.
- Partner Sales Readiness - Execute training and readiness programs to empower Microsoft partner sales forces to successfully drive focus on Windows within their partner business plans.
- Continued feedback and engagement - Engage directly with partners and customers to drive strong partner business plans focused on the Windows business and also gain feedback to enhance Windows partner programs.
Commercial Awareness and Perception
- Drive Market Perception - Develop and execute marketing plan with a mix of marketing (PR, online, 1-few, 1-many) to create demand for accelerated migration to latest version of Windows and establishes strong perception of Windows commercial adoption in the market.
- Windows Technical Audience Marketing Plans - Work with audience marketing teams to define and execute plans that drive strong awareness, favorability and loyalty among the IT professional and developer audiences.
Product and Business Group Champion - As a product marketing manager in the Windows BG, you will be expected to have strong product knowledge with ability to articulate product value propositions to customers and partners. This will require continued self-learning and interest in understanding customer demands and product scenarios to meet such demand.
Orchestration and Leadership - For all plans and initiatives, it will be critical to demonstrate strong orchestration and cross-group leadership with extended marketing and sales team across the subsidiary organization. This will involve leading virtual teams for initiatives, product launches and customer/partner programs. Also, work with extended teams and peer subsidiaries to share best practices and contribute to planning and execution of cross-region activities.
Experience and Skill Requirements
This position will require a candidate with a good balance of experience and knowledge in driving planning and execution of sales and marketing programs, leading collaboration across an organization, and engaging with customers and partners. Specifically, this should include:
- Must have proven experience with planning and executing marketing programs, specifically targeting commercial and government customers and partner, and also with one-to-many marketing activities
- Demonstrated ability to drive results by leading extended teams
- Structured approach to business planning and execution with strong project management skills
- Ability to present technology and solutions effectively to excite customers or partners - in one-to-one, or small to large audiences.
- Excellent communications and presentation skills.
- 5+ years of related experience in sales and marketing with at least 4 years in a high tech software environment
- Bachelor degree required
- Language Skills: Require English and preferably Mandarin
- Job Location: Beijing, China
- Travel Required: Minimal within Greater China
