FY14 is the year for Surface to scale. The focus here will be winning at retail and we will partner heavily with our retail teams to do just that. It is also the year that we will engage with commercial customers - through evidence, readiness, and activation. In order to do this we will need to ensure we have great consumer marketing that drives demand all the way through the channel, as well as tremendous sales support and readiness for the commercial channels.
This is a newly created role within the Subsidiary to ensure will be the local Surface and PC Accessories subject matter expert.
Core Surface Marketing Responsibilities:
1. Delivery of high impact technology evangelism to internal and external audiences. Be widely acknowledged as local subject matter expert for Surface and PC accessories.
2. Support the Surface Category Lead in the development and execution of a Surface Category plan.
3. Work to leverage Windows related marketing opportunities that can support Surface goals.
4. Partner with BG Lead and PR Lead to ensure appropriate Surface PR activities are being prioritized.
5. Develop strong partner relationship with segments through the Consumer and Commercial PMMs.
6. Escalation point for mobility specialists in the field; expert on all things related to Surface in the commercial space. Learn what works, iterate and win.
7. Own end to end plan for Surface in Commercial aligning sales, marketing and partner GTM - execute, learn and provide feedback to Corp
8. Drive local launch and readiness for new products in Commercial
9. Partner with enterprise marketing lead to align marketing and sales efforts to drive Surface pipeline
10. Own and land the Commercial messaging and associated content
11. Drive internal Surface readiness across all commercial roles in EPG and SMS&P
12. Work with Disti/Reseller PAMs and Resellers SSPs to drive reseller sales inline with broader Surface GTM
Accountabilities
You will create or translate marketing plans for your products, for your geography based on an understanding of the market, competitive landscape, customer and economic dynamics. You will develop strong partnerships with the other marketing stakeholders to lead and execute the fiscal year local priorities. By partnering with all relevant marketing teams, you will create the most impactful marketing strategy and execution plan, minimizing ad-hoc and un-integrated customer and partner outreach. Your goal is to think and act as “One Microsoft”.
Your key deliverables will include annual marketing execution plan, launch plans, internal and partner readiness plan, digital media plan, product content and programs, local customer evidence, and competitive positioning and response insights.
Qualifications:
- Experience:5 - 8 years of related experience
- Education:Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. /B.A.)
- Field of Study (if applicable): Marketing, Business, Computer Science
Marketing Competencies:
Marketing Planning: Allocates resources, and manages the planning process to ensure cohesive and integrated app marketing strategy for his/her geography. Results are demonstrated by meeting or exceeding plan success metrics.
Business & Monetization: Delivers business and monetization strategies for accelerating app builder success, and optimizes these processes across business lines.
Competitive Positioning & Response: Drives competitive processes for his/her region and optimizes outcomes to ensure competitive plans are successfully executed. Results demonstrate plans with sustainable differentiators, contingency tactics for competitive scenarios, alignment with product development, and marcom execution.
Product Advocacy: Allocates resources to ensure the creation of a complete library of content and demos to support advocacy efforts across a product line and business. Acts as spokesperson, or ensures that the team is equipped with trained spokespeople to credibly represent products or initiatives to diverse audiences (press, retail, or partners).
Positioning, Messaging & Storytelling: Accountable for turning business and/or product-line positioning, and messaging and storytelling frameworks into local campaigns
