OVERALL PURPOSE:
As a contributor in our sourcing team mainly for technical components, a partner with our Merck to develop and excute our sourcing operations. Also partner with the Quality and R&D leaders to identify sourcing opportunities. Primary focus will be to indentify potential suppliers located in China and leverage their skills and abilities to drive quality, productivity and growth for Merck Group and China local sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Working with the Merck group, quality and procurement teams to develop and execute sourcing plans aligned with our Corporate Procurement strategy.
- Seek, find, qualify and negotiate with suppliers to meet Merck’s global and China local strategies and requirements, start from technical components sourcing.
-Leverage the skills and abilities of China suppliers to drive quality, productivity, and growth for Merck improving and sourcing in low cost country areas.
- Involve China suppliers in new product introductions, concurrent engineering and leverage the R&D capabilities of suppliers to continuously drive quality and productivity.
-Develop China suppliers via supplier assessment, supplier development, and supplier certification.
- Follow up on the major projects and negotiate key contracts with measurable criteria by creating strategic partnerships with China suppliers mainly for technical components, but not limited to it.

REQUIREMENTS:
-Skillful communications with suppliers and internal shareholders, as well as partners.
-Team player
-Good oral and written English communication skills for communicating in a global corporate environment
-Quick learner and clear thinking with ownership
-Able to drive change and continuous improvement
-Major in Mechanical, Business or related field
-1-3 years experience in sourcing area, specifically in China regions.
-Basic understanding on Technical components(Plastic and metal parts), as well as Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals. Technical knowledge in related products, processes, quality and qualification, etc.
-General market knowledge about sourcing opportunities for Technical components&Equipment in China, with potential to be developed for chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
-Experience in supplier negotiation, development, relationship management, as well relationship build up.
-Good project management, facilitation skills as well as subcontract manufacturing management.
-Travel within China is about 30%.
-Good analytical and strategic project planning skills.
