Background
The Network Management Centre (NMC) is the operational part of Enterprise Networks (EN) department, which provides Mars business globally with IT Networks related services such as WAN Networks, Inbound VPN connectivity, Audio & Video Conferencing, Firewalls, Local Area Wireless and Cable network standards, Network Name Resolution, IP Telephony, Voice Over IP, connectivity for Business Partners.
The Role
The purpose of the job is to provide 3rd level expert support, management and maintenance of the global networks environment including management of equipment configurations and version levels of hardware and software, support of an ongoing continues improvement programme, capacity planning and reporting on utilisation, find opportunities for effective innovations and cost reduction. This role will be involved in the global Enterprise Networks projects support take-on and work with other IT support departments to drive down incident trend.
- Support Follow the Sun support for WAN/LAN/Firewall for AP region out of ISC
- Deliver 'special event' videos for key customers in AP region
- Deliver break / fix support and problem management improvements through work orders for the WAN/LAN environment
- Support Projects and CIP's to upgrade the WAN/LAN environment
- Train the regional Site Team and regional MSD whenever necessary to keep the knowledge pipeline
- Propose optimization based on industry best practices
- Promote service improvement by leading SMART processes improvement processes
- Responsible for Technical Documentation
- This job will have weekly audio calls outside of normal office hours compensated by either day-offs or late morning starts
- Work ratio: 70% Internal Connectivity (WAN/LAN); 30%: Security Connectivity (VPN/Firewall)
This role is based in Guangzhou (IT Hub at Mars IS Guangzhou, China), but is global in scope to look after Mars internal & external networks worldwide (~30,000 users, 116 offices, 65 countries, over 1000 network devices of different kind).
Key Results:
- Provide a high level of production support for Enterprise Networks services.
- Provide metrics for utilisation, availability and issues.
- Proactively drive increasing availability and reducing amount of issues in the area of responsibility.
- Implement improvement projects.
- Run NMC support take-on for new Enterprise Networks technology rollouts.
- Develop expertise and provide backup support in a number of additional technology areas.
- Play the role of technical expert in Enterprise Networks projects.
- Manage relationship and operations with global network carrier.
Required Qualification and Experience:
? At least 5 years of overall experience in the networking area. This role would be best filled by a high calibre technology focussed IT specialist with good background in Networks related area, ambition and potential to become an NMC technology leader of tomorrow.
? University degree, preferably in computer science / mathematics / physics / telecom.
? Achievement motivation: individual's desire for significant accomplishment, mastering of skills, control, or high standards.
? Strong analytical skills: able to troubleshoot complex problems, and to quickly pick up and handle new technology, architectures and concepts.
? Good diagnosis, questioning and fact-finding skills.
? Good communication skills - written and oral.
? Ability to appropriately handle stress and conflict.
? Good task management, time management and self-organisation.
? General business knowledge & awareness: how business operates, what is the role of IT in business, etc.
? Good vendor management skills.
Essential technology skills:
? Very good knowledge of TCP/IP (e.g. routing protocols).
? Very good knowledge of Cisco Routers, Switches configurations. (MUST)
? Knowledge of Cisco Firewalls. (Preferred)
? VPN appliances and other methods of external connectivity.
? Web Proxy, NAT, Masquerading.
? IP Telephony technologies (Avaya, Cisco).
? LAN/VLAN concepts, DNS/DHCP services.
? CCNP or CCSP preferred
Key competencies for the job:
? Functional and Technical skills in the Infrastructure area; Technical Learning
? A strong drive for results combined with an ability to set appropriate priorities.
? Strong problem solving skills; Good customer focus; Good communication skills; Time management;
? IT service management, ITIL concepts and practices.
