Job Description:
The Director of Education serves as the principal proponent of Montessori philosophy, methods and curriculum. The Director of Education works with the Executive Director to insure that Tmega American Academy maintains its commitment to Montessori philosophy. The Director of Education reports directly to the Executive Director.


Purpose:

The Director of Education is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the school as a provider of Montessori education.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensures that students who attend the school receive a high quality Montessori education

2. Works with the Executive Director in determining the teaching positions needed to implement the school’s programs, and screening, interviewing and hiring highly qualified, committed and certified Montessori teachers for all programs as described in the Policy and Procedures manual.

3. Determines teacher performance standards and completes teacher evaluations. Writes up procedure and creates forms for evaluations, conducts observations, completes evaluation forms which are given to Executive Director for maintenance of staff files. Director of Education is available for consultation with Executive Director in cases where disciplinary action or promotion is being considered.

4. Works with Executive Director to assess staff training and professional development needs, and to set schedule for training sessions, to supply guidance and/or requirements for staff to develop and maintain skills.

5.Primary coordinator for teacher in-service meetings and for teaching classes in Montessori philosophy and its practical applications to newly-hired classroom assistants; Executive Director coordinates scheduling of meetings and classes in accordance with labor regulations, and arranges for substitute coverage as needed.

6.Assists the Executive Director in developing and maintaining relationships with the larger Montessori community and working to keep school educational and administrative staff connected to people outside the school who can support, teach and inspire them.

7. Interpreting the Montessori philosophy, teaching methods and curriculum for parents, elected Board directors, and committee members

8.Works with the Executive Director in organizing and participating in parent education opportunities, and Board of Directors training in the area of Montessori philosophy

9. Conducts school tours, schedules in-class observations as needed, including follow-up discussion after observation; Executive Director conducts orientation meeting with parents upon enrollment of child (may include Director of Education).

10.Works with Executive Director to coordinate class placement and services for students who have demonstrated a need for assistance or for whom parents or teachers request additional services

11.Designs student academic and supplementary programs; Executive Director is responsible for financial aspects of program: setting budget, administering employment contracts.

Requirment:
1.Three years of Montessori experience

2.Master Degree

3.English Native Speaker or has teaching experience overseas
