Our client is a leading Global Retailer of babies, toddler & kids apparel. You will be responsible for managing the global purchasing process for a specific department and set of product lines for the company ensuring adherence to purchase policy and processes and the delivery of the best average buying price to the company whilst also ensuring that orders and deliveries are on time and to the necessary quality. Responsible for new supplier sourcing in their area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Input to the sourcing strategy for their department as required by the Head of Purchasing
- Own the key supplier relationships for their area of responsibility building trust and mutually beneficial commercial arrangements.
- Apply and operate the purchasing processes to secure supply of all products at the best average buying price achievable
- Select new suppliers and conduct regular reviews of established suppliers against future requirements
- Negotiate and place orders with suppliers against the strategy agreed with the Head of Purchasing to deliver target buying price (and therefore associated in-take margins)
- Develop relationships with franchise partners in their location to understand their needs and requirements to deliver sales plans
- Ensure that local capacity plans and requirements are sufficient to deliver the sourcing strategy
- Ensure that production and shipments are on time
- Analyse supplier performance with the Head of Purchasing to ensure that the company receives consistently high levels of service
- Increase market penetration by benchmarking products bought through full service suppliers.
- Support the Product Development teams to help deliver product vision and strategy maintaining company Hand writing themes and stories
- Identify new opportunities and trends to drive innovation, lower costs and increase profit
- Ensure launch availability through the management of critical paths for their location
- Manage the refund process for quality claims with suppliers
- Support the implementation of the company
- Responsible Sourcing code of conduct in the supply base
- Track and analyse key performance indicators that show the delivery of the purchasing team against agreed plans and strategies and work with the Head of Purchasing to develop and implement any corrective actions
- Track spend against agreed budgets
- This role directly reports to Head of Purchasing
- Provide the day to day line management of the Purchaser team (setting
- Performance objectives/ goals and monitoring performance and providing feedback and coaching)
- Recruit, develop and coach team members to become a high performing Purchasing team
- Support the Head of Purchasing in developing talent and creating a robust succession plan for key roles.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Team leadership
- Negotiation & Influencing Skills
- Commercial acumen
- Business planning
- Understanding of sourcing policies and procedures
- Product and Technical Development experience
- Factory and Production experience
- Logistics and shipping expertise
- Coaching and knowledge transfer capabilities
- Regular travel within region is required
- Previously experience within an international apparel buying office
- Previous experience in babies, kids & softline products will be an advantage
- Regional sourcing experience required
