Job Summary:
A Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for his/her own product P&L, developing product roadmap, go-to-market and pricing strategy, managing product life cycle, and overseeing the delivery of new products. This person will be the lead PLM for China. Teams closely with Sales, Product Marketing, R&D, Operations, Finance, and external parties such as chip vendors and ODMs to ensure consistent product delivery and sustainable revenue growth. Meets revenue, market share, standard and operating margin targets on a quarterly basis. This position will lead to a general management position.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
? Develop 18-month product roadmap for the product line targeted to home customers.
? Identify growth opportunities, set plans accordingly, and rally cross-functional execution to achieve growth.
? Conducts market analysis to understand channel performance, competitive pricing, user preference, and technology trends.
? Identifies, defines, and differentiates feature sets in the product line. Work closely with PE to implement the roll out of these features.
? Establish pricing strategy for the product line.
? Actively engage with chip vendors and ODMs to understand technology advancement and cost trends.
? Participates and drive Business Development activities with technology partners.
? Focuses on product beta and coordinate between beta testers and PE team to resolve beta issues.
? Directs the preparation of sales collaterals and tools (giftboxes, data sheets, promotional flyers, sales summary presentations, promotional videos) for a successful handover to the outbound marketing team.
? Works closely with outbound marketing team and to ensure a successful launch of the product including product reviews, PR events, etc.
? Continuous monitoring of product feedback and user reviews from channel or online sources and drives PE to address field issues.
? Conducts routine product training to sales and channel partners.
? Monitor revenue, costs, and sell-through and initiate actions to achieve life cycle volumes and margins, and direct transition and EOL actions.
? Take the role as internal expert as well as external spokesperson and evangelist for the company on the product line’s products and technology.
? Regularly visit customers in China and occasional trips to headquarter in San Jose, CA.
Qualifications:
I am looking for candidates who have the following qualifications but more importantly one who is energetic and passionate about growing business in China. This job is not for the faint of heart but if you thrive in fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environment, you may have the good character fit.
? 7-10 years in Product Management/Marketing, or Sales with demonstrated knowledge of technology, consumer wireless industry, and branding.
? Proven track record of managing and growing own P&L.
? Understanding of retail channel structures in China.
? Strong understanding of network infrastructure, enthusiastic about consumer electronic products and technology trends.
? Ability to synthesize information from various sources to form own opinion and gain support from others.
? Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts in cross-functional situations.
? Proven track record of driving product and business strategy for a major product category.
? Constructive teaming across the value-chain organization.
? MBA or related Master’s degree required.
? Prior experience working in an international company preferred.
? Fluency in Mandarin Chinese required.
? Fluency in conversational English preferred.
? Up to 40% travel.
