Major Duties and Requirements:
Establish laboratory protocols, safety guidelines, and quality control measures to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Collaborate closely with the Director of R&D to align technology strategies, projects, and objectives.
Work closely with the Quality Assurance function to acquire and maintain necessary lab capabilities to support operational success.
Conduct research, experiments, and tests to assess material properties, performance, and manufacturing processes.
Evaluate local suppliers of raw materials and equipment by utilizing the principles of Design of Experiments (DOE) to support the company's supply chain strategy.
Implement meticulous documentation practices to capture experimental details, data, and outcomes.
Analyze data and prepare technical reports, documenting research findings, experimental methodologies, and outcomes.
Assist the commercial team in resolving customer complaints and addressing their concerns.
Collaborate closely with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, minimize scrap rate, and enhance product quality.
Design and implement process improvements and introduce new technologies to drive operational efficiency.
Manage intellectual property (IP) protection and oversee patent applications in accordance with company policies.
Conduct process audits, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify areas for optimization.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for process control and quality assurance.
Provide regular performance reports to the leadership team and be available to participate in global team meetings at early morning local time, if necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Establish clear goals and objectives using the SMART approach and provide guidance to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
Develop a well-defined roadmap for the career advancement of team members.
Cultivate a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and effectively address conflicts within the team.
Oversee staff selection, performance management, development, and training processes to ensure team members possess the necessary competencies and capabilities to achieve business goals and meet expectations.
Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations, while handling disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with company policy.

Experience, Education Requirements, and Language Skills:
Demonstrated progressive experience of 5+ years in R&D.
Strong understanding and application of Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of management and staff.
Resourceful with a can-do attitude, consistently finding solutions to challenges.
Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation habits.
Ability to regularly present and communicate department performance to the leadership team.
Analytical mindset, proficient in data collection and decision-making based on data analysis.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, database management tools, and ERP systems (Microsoft Navision experience is advantageous).
Experience in thermoplastics (composites or compounded resins) is a desirable asset.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated ability to start from scratch and build teams and functions.
Bachelor's degree in material science, chemical engineering, or other related discipline.
5S, Lean and Six Sigma project management certifications are desirable.
Fluent in Mandarin and English, with the ability to speak Japanese and/or Vietnamese being a plus.
Demonstrated skill in delivering information in a clear and impactful manner to diverse audiences, including management, customers, employees, and the general public.
