Role Title: Consultant Specialist

Role Purpose / Description

Digital Business Automation (DigiBA) is an integral part of ITID - Data Centre & Operations (DC&O). DigiBA are responsible for Globally delivering scheduling requirements at the quality and pace warranted by the business whilst maintaining the integrity of the scheduling environments. Our aim is to provide the workload automation capabilities to facilitate DevOps and Agile practices both internally and externally, and administer the end-end governance and oversight for all scheduling products.

The job holder will be part of the Control-M Product Management team who have responsibility to ensure the stability, integrity and capability of the Control-M product suite in use across HSBC. This includes ensuring ongoing vendor support, upgrades and capability uplift to support the deliverables for all Global Businesses and functions within HSBC. Product Management also provide 3rd line support for the Control-M product suite and are expected to provide coverage and guidance for escalations from the production support team.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

Required Skills / Experiences

• Excellent verbal and written English skills

• Experience of using Control-M v9.0.00 or later as either a developer or administrator on Unix/Windows

• Experience of providing production support / troubleshooting for Control-M application or infrastructure issues

• Knowledge of how to leverage Control-M functionality such as the AAPI or Application Integrator to develop solutions that optimize workflows and processes.

• An understanding of the Control-M security model (in particular the mechanisms to manage user access).

• Basic Linux Administration and strong scripting skills

• Understanding of security patches and application and hardware upgrades

• Ability to analyze data and information to develop recommendations and solutions that deliver strategic outcomes

• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Beneficial Skills / Experiences (NOT ESSENTIAL)

• Experience of managing / maintaining Control-M v9.x in the Cloud (Google, Amazon, Azure)

• Experience of agent installation and upgrades on iSeries (As400), windows and Unix platforms

• Experience of testing, evaluating, and deploying new Control-M functionality and / or fix packs released by the vendor

• Experience of managing other BMC Control-M products e.g. Workload Change Manager, Batch Impact Manager, Managed File Transfer, Application Integrator

• Experience of upgrading core Control-M components e.g. Enterprise Manager, Control-M Servers, Control-M Agents.

• Holds the BMC Certified Professional qualification for v9.x

• Experience of CICD deployment tools  e.g. JENKINS, ANSIBLE, GIT, NEXUS

• Experience of system management tools  e.g. HPSA, SCCM, PUPPET, ANSIBLE

• Knowledge of disaster recovery / resilience testing - Veritas Cluster Server and SRDF

• Good understanding of Unix/Windows server and / or Oracle database functionality and configuration

• Good Oracle skills including SQL, PL/SQL

• Experience of engaging vendors where appropriate

• Knowledge of Agile ways of working e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, or Crystal.
