JOB PURPOSE

Color development for compound products by leading or participating in Innovation Projects in multi-disciplinary fields, as well as leading or participating in other R&D or Business projects/assignments. Responsible for new color design and development, coloring process development, color matching & adjustment (internal or customer side), up-scaling, evaluating, testing and approving quality and performance of new color or color improvement in Borouge (in given field).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Job Specific Accountabilities

Area of responsibility 

? Lead new color formulation design, development or improvement to fulfil color-matching requirement of polyolefin-based compound for automotive applications (interior, exterior, UTB, etc.) or other identified applications

? Lead evaluation, optimisation and quality / performance approvals of sourced colorants, e.g. color masterbatch, pigments, etc.

? Work closely with product development, laboratory, production, commercial, and customer as source of color expert to meet varied requirements such as response time, accuracy and reliability etc.; support on-site color matching or adjustment in customer side to enable color approval

? Independently design and perform approaches (e.g. experiments, trials) to evaluate the color-related performance of raw materials, additives and colorants in various compound systems.

? Independently interpret customer (e.g. OEM and Tier) requirement into internal color code

? Lead or participate in innovation or application projects/tasks and meeting target deliverables and milestones in co-operation with R&D and business units.

? Deliver color matching tasks through good planning, risk analysis, DOE, efficient communication, and root cause analysis and trouble shooting.

? Reduce unnecessary color matching trial by utilizing existing colors, communicating technical limitation versus customer requirement;

? Develop and maintain in-house color database, system and instrumentation; 

? Guide internal lab staff or external vendor to generate proper color formula in polyolefin plastics with consideration of CTQ clarification, regulation compliance and QA concern. 

? Work closely with Production team for formulation validation, process control & optimization and quality management

? Work closely with Procurement team for new source qualification and cost-reduction initiatives.

? Provide Marketing, Sales and TS with necessary technical and regulatory documentation and supports (e.g. technical communication, presentation) to enable product commercialisation.

? Technical claim investigations, including reporting and conclusions on customer complaints

? Collaborated with B&B global innovation network for technical advancements.

? Contribute to overall HSE&Q performance by keeping high standards in relevant work environment focusing on continuous improvements

? Conduct technical external projects and studies supporting R&D, Innovation Projects and Application research.

? Proper documentation and reporting of own work according to internal processes

? Support customer and other laboratory quality system audits

People

? Lead and coach a small project team to deliver results according to project plans and targets

? Coach lab colorist or technicians to deliver routine tasks

? Provide technical training to internal (MC, CMP, etc.) and external (customers, value chain members…) stakeholders

? Coach a functional team to deliver routine tasks or services 

Customer

? Co-operation with Business Units, R&D (B&B), IC specialists to generate creative solutions to meet project targets and market needs.

? Delivering expected results to business units on products, investigations, and application developments

? Exploring customer and value chain needs by meeting stakeholders,  co-operation (customers, machine manufacturers…) and visits

? Gives technical papers/lectures inside and outside the company to promote Borouge products and image

? Familiar with  Customer special requirements which mentioned in customer document

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
? Master and above, in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
? Minimum 5 years’ experience of color formulation development and color matching in plastics, ink, or paint industries
? Good knowledge of color technology, colorants (color masterbatch, pigment) properties, and formulation design;
? Good ability to solve problems and handle diverse responsibilities under pressure;
? Team spirit, excellent team player with proved inclusiveness and engagement
? Effective communication skills, and good English skills (reading, writing, speaking)
? Good computational skills, proficient in MS Office especially in Excel and PowerPoint;
? Good knowledge of Compound Material
? Good knowledge of plastic markets and applications
? Good knowledge of plastics processing, testing and analytical techniques.
? Project management capability and knowledge
? Experience in relationship / scientific network building
? Basic commercial understanding and interest in business value
? Familiar with TS16949 requirements and skilled in applying quality tools
