Job Title: Assistant Director (Infrastructure and Services)

The appointee will be required to station and work in Hong Kong/Mainland (initially in Nansha) prior to the official opening of the GZ campus in the fall of 2022. Frequent business travels between Mainland and the Hong Kong Clear Water Bay campus (CWB) will have to be made as required. English is the administration language of HKUST (GZ).

Job duties:

• design and implement IT infrastructure and services of the GZ Campus, encompassing the campus network, data center, cloud computing, high performance computing (HPC), desktop computing, e-learning, storage, telephone system and audio-visual (A/V) systems etc.;
• lead central IT operations at GZ Campus;
• oversee user support and training such as service desk and classroom support; and
• maintain close contact with CWB team and other departments for effective day-to-day operation.

Requirements:

• a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, with at least 8 years’substantial management experience in IT development, service management and general administration, preferably in tertiary education;
• experience in managing a sizable modern IT infrastructure in supporting a smart campus;
• familiar with IT applications for higher education as well as the research and education sector, including e-learning, service desk, digitalized facilities and classrooms, research computing, R&E networks, and research platforms etc.; and
• strong team building, communication and leadership skills.

This is a Mainland appointment and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST Mainland entity in accordance with the local labor laws and regulations. Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
