职位描述

Role Title: Lead Application Architect
Business: Architecture IT
Role Purpose / Description The Lead Application Architect develops Application Architecture for HSBC, working closely with the Chief Application Architect. The holder of this role has accountability for developing a coherent enterprise wide strategy for the design and development of applications, defining the architecture which implements the strategy, and engaging with development and engineering teams to ensure that it is built. They will lead decision making for key technology choices across the application domain.
The Lead Application Architect will also engage closely with application owners and Service Line heads across the enterprise, particularly those led from China, defining how each Service Line will implement the application architecture. They will be a key thought leader for software development within HSBC.
The Lead Application Architect provides specific Application architecture leadership within HSBC’s strategic technology centres in China, acting as the centre of the Application architecture community, and building strong capability within engineering and operations teams.
Principal Accountabilities
Impact on the Business/Function
? Lead and own the development and implementation of global architecture strategy and standards, focusing mainly on large or multiple architecture projects.
? Introduce new practices, processes, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies.
? Act as SME of the appropriate group business systems.
? Responsible for architecture and design of application hosting & infrastructure solutions for application capabilities and that these are endorsed through the appropriate governance bodies.
? Review technology services against application strategy and benchmark against external market capabilities.
? Stay abreast of technology trends and advise IT and the business about potential benefits/impacts.
? Provide a consultancy role to IT and business teams where appropriate.
? Where appropriate, provide full life cycle architectural guidance to development teams and ensure quality technical deliverables.

? Customer focus – Leads a customer-centred culture. Champions activities encouraging outstanding service and/or enhancing customer advocacy. Deepens customer insight by gathering information to shape approaches to customers.
? Strengthening stakeholders relationships – Cultivates strong relationships with organisationally important global and/or high value stakeholders for data
? Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
Leadership & Teamwork
? Defines the scope of the strategic responsibility for data Architecture
? Actively promote the benefits of architecture, accepted best practice techniques, standards and tools to other areas of the group and external suppliers where necessary.
? Ensure that the highest level of quality for all activities and products is provided.
? Manage a global team of architects within an architecture sub-function.
? Drive future state architecture execution in collaboration with stakeholders.
? Drive partnerships with technology vendors to influence industry direction.
? Represent HSBC at industry round table forums & conferences.
? Mentor and coach less experienced members of staff and promotes understanding of the value of architecture and the appropriate use of technologies and standards across application domains
? Build strong relationships with engineering and operations teams aligned to the relevant area, particularly the designers within these teams.
? Identify and develop architecture and design talent within IT, both within directly managed teams and within other aligned teams.
Operational Effectiveness & Control:
? Manage architecture reviews through appropriate governance mechanisms ensuring peer review of all projects.
? Ensure that any new technology products are taken through the appropriate governance mechanisms.
? Ensure that all existing/new service patterns/deployments guides are taken through the appropriate governance mechanisms.
? Define the strategy and priorities for managing and refreshing the existing technology estate for the application domain.
? Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the group’s standards of ethical behaviour.
Management of Risk
? Identify and manage operational risks within directly managed teams, including risks related to talent and knowledge retention.
? Identify risks within relevant architecture areas, and ensure that these risks are assigned and managed.
? Identify risks and mitigating actions for components of the existing technology estate, including replacement and refresh of aging or out of support items.
? Take ownership of assigned architectural risks related to service and change delivery, and manage these risks to resolution.
Observation of Internal Controls
The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.
The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
The following statement is only for roles with managerial or specific Compliance responsibilities
The jobholder will implement measures to contain compliance risk across the business area. This will be achieved by liaising with Compliance department about business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

? Budget control: This role may be responsible for its respective direct costs dependent upon respective business / function / service responsibility.
? Budget direction: This role will have influence over the total technology budget within the application domain, with values of up to $2-3BN.
? Entity/functional management: This job may have line management responsibility of IT Lead Architects and/or IT Architects.
? Relationships: Global Head of ADM, Service Line Head, IT Domain Heads, Key partnerships with Strategic Vendors.
? Strategic importance - High: Leads and owns the development and implementation of global architecture strategy and standards.
? Regulatory & Risk – D – Manages risks identified through design processes and governance mechanisms, communicates changes in Architecture policy & governance effectively.
Certifications, Qualifications & Experience
? At least 15-20 years of experience in technology roles, with specific leadership expertise in application architecture.
? At least 5-10 years of experience in senior design or leadership roles.
