PRINCIPal ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Performs medical device product design and development activities per assignment and collaboration with team members:

   ·   Understanding user needs and create product design specifications.

   ·    Design product structures, and breakdown to suitable parts level.

   ·    Parts model and material selection and definition.

   ·    Creates models and prototypes to check the design, debug and optimize the design.

   ·    Do Process development and validation.

   ·    Conducts testing to verify parts and final product meet specification and requirements.

   ·    Documentation deliverables for the responsible activities.

   ·    Conducts documentation with design controls and risk analysis in accordance with established design control/quality SOPs.

   ·    Recognizes common and uncommon problems of moderate scope and complexity when they occur.

   ·    Uses standard techniques, theories and tools to identify and develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

   ·    Contributes inventions, new designs and techniques associated with the completion of specific product development.

  ·    May provide training and guidance to fresh team member.

  ·    Adheres to safety policy and procedures.

EXPERIENCE：

Associate’s plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; or Bachelor’s plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; or Master’s plus 2year relevant experience; or PhD plus some relevant experience. At least one successful project/critical problem solving experience.

Education in Engineering, Scientific or Technical discipline required.

Medical device experience strongly preferred.  

EDUCATION:

B.S. or M.S. degree engineering education background.

Mechanical or Material specialty preferred.

JOB COMPETENCIES:

Basic understanding of medical device industry and competitor products. Basic understanding of technical principles and application as related intravascular device.

  ·         Capable on definition of technical solutions for product developments.

  ·         Working knowledge of methodology for tooling, molding, structural design and process development.

  ·         Working knowledge of mechanical design and development of complex device: material selection and process, rapid prototyping or electronic parts design.

  ·         Working knowledge and experience in transferring designs to manufacturing.

  ·         Good knowledge of preclinical study designs, execution and interpretation of results. Good communication and documentation skills in English and Chinese. Effectively works cooperatively with others as part of a team.

  ·         good knowledge of Design for Six Sigma, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Statistical Analysis methods, and Design of Experiments. Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, or Access.

  ·         Basic knowledge of applicable FDA and ISO standards. Basic understanding of clinical and regulatory pathways, IP and internal processes. Takes initiative in keeping current with technology developments in field of interest.        

  Skills/Competencies:

  Other Skills:   

  ·         Working knowledge and application of SolidWorks CAD (Pro/Engineer, ProE) design, Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MiniTAB, DRM, Six Sigma and etc.
