Position Description

 This position is a Site Safety Manager to support WestRock MPS manufacturing sites  in Guangzhou, Kunshan and Wuxi. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Lead the implementation of safety management systems to achieve both compliance and safety performance excellence.

* Development and implementation of annual safety plans and innovative safety initiatives with an emphasis on both short and long-range planning / goal attainment.

* Lead and Conduct the daily management of EHS. 

* Providing coaching to site leaders and employees on all safety matters.

* Conducting and/or following-up on facility safety audits and evaluations.

* Staying abreast of technical advances & regulatory changes to assess impact on site operations.

* Developing and teaching engaging safety training sessions, then following up to ensure key lessons are being implemented.

* Assisting with incident investigation, root cause analysis, system-wide correction action development / tracking, return-to-work, and medical case management.

*“Hands on”approach with leading multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment – must be organized, able to work independently, capable of multi-tasking, and achieve results.

* Tracking & reporting leading / lagging safety metrics and using this data to formulate continuous improvement strategies.

* Facilitating the communication of safety information across the site.

* Having a passion for safety and inspiring others to carry out their responsibilities with an uncompromising attitude toward safety & health.

* To optimize timely the emergency responsible procedure, plant alarm plans & other requests of MPS & the laws, regulations, etc.

* Management of fire fighting facilities, fire engines and hazmat equipment’s, etc.

* Be in charge of hazards identification & the risk assessment of the plants, to monitor the implementation of the preventive countermeasures. 

Required and Desired Skills

• Working knowledge of both company and local safety regulations required.
• Must be willing to travel to all sites supported by this position.
• Demonstrated ability to collect, evaluate, understand, synthesize, and interpret data - report results and make recommendations.
• Strong technical / analytical, problem solving, influencing and project management skills required.
• Prior multi-site responsibilities required.
• 5+ years of proactive safety management experience in manufacturing required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish relationships and influence at all levels required.
• Ability to overcome obstacles and drive organizational change required.
• Skills in team building, coaching, and leading others required.
• Exemplary standards of integrity and ethics required.
• Excellent oral / written communication skills and training ability required.
• Previous experience in paper / printing industry desirable.
• Undergraduate in a related field desirable.
• Professional safety designations desirable.
