MTC Technical Architect (Application Platform)
Microsoft Technology Centers (MTC) is state-of-the-art collaboration facility staffed with a team of senior technical architects that help customers envision, design, and demonstrate solutions that meet their exact needs. The MTC manages a lab containing millions of dollars of high-end servers, cutting-edge storage, and networking infrastructure to prove out the most challenging and complex scenarios. The MTCs engage early in the project life-cycle where the customer is just beginning to define the vision and determine if it feasible. Customers come to the MTC and say, “we could really transform our business if we could just do something like….” It’s your job to figure out how to go about accomplishing just that.
The Microsoft Technology Center in Beijing is looking for a master of application platform. In this role, you will work with the best of the best on an elite technology team. You will work on the most complex projects for the top companies. You will lead Architecture Design Sessions (ADS) and Proofs of Concept (POC) to articulate the business opportunity, propose and validate solution architecture, and transfer knowledge on best practices. You will act as the Application Platform expert for China and help set the direction for how we articulate the Microsoft platform vision and differentiate it from our competition.
The successful candidate will have:
- Expertise in designing, building, tuning, virtualizing, consolidating and managing complex databases with SQL Server.
- Deep enterprise development experience, including in-depth, hands-on knowledge of SQL development, Business Intelligence, and SQL operational expertise.
- Experience with enterprise integration, enterprise portals, or application development.
- Hands-on experience with non-Microsoft technologies particularly J2EE, Linux, Oracle, DB2, Websphere, or Hadoop is a definite plus.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in broad architectural skills, customer facilitation and collaboration, and solution selling.
- The ability to explain abstract technical concepts in a business value context.
- A BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience combined with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including a consulting or technical sales background is strongly preferred.
The position requires a commitment to customer and partner satisfaction, including internal customers, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to thrive in a team environment. The candidate must be a self-starter who takes ownership of opportunities, works independently, manages multiple simultaneous projects, and deals well with ambiguity and last-minute changes. The candidate needs to have the ability and passion necessary to maintain technical excellence with emerging technologies, including competitive technologies, while continuing to manage customer opportunities.
