Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist uses strong communication and copywriting skills to build and strengthen NCPA’s image with current and prospective parents, students, government agencies, and faculty. He or she manages all communication channels with these audiences to build positive relationships with the school. Building relationships and developing a broad and deep knowledge of the NCPA community, which spans Eastern and Western culture, is a necessity that the Communication Specialist is comfortable meeting.

Supervisor: Vice Principal 

Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Journalism, communications, or marketing

* Experience in photography and/or graphic design preferable, with an ability to effectively leverage multimedia across a variety of physical and electronic media

* Working knowledge of photo- and video-editing software

* Minimum of two years experience in a similar position; experience in a Western overseas organizational environment desirable

* Excellent organizational skills

* Excellent verbal and written skills; language proficiency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese

* Flexibility in adjusting to organizational growth and change

* Interest in Chinese student preparation for higher education in western English-speaking universities

* Willingness to be part of a professional learning community i.e. a community focused on learning for all stakeholders including students, parents, faculty and local staff

Responsibilities:

* Deeply understand and support school mission and goals of the school.

* With the vice principal and other stakeholders, identify key events and opportunities for showcasing the school's key attributes

* Create and edit content for variety of school publications including the public website and WeChat presence

* Coordinate audiovisual recording of events; capture images of events and interview relevant students or school personnel for publicity purposes

* Manage archive of media assets for use by departments

* Assist in organizing promotional and intake events that will bring prospective parents and students, liaising with central office as necessary

* Collaborate with various departments in organizing quarterly Parent Education Forums to build a shared understanding of the school’s mission, curriculum and pedagogies

* Assist as necessary wtih translation services for the Director and Principals with parents and visitors

* Assist in performing translation and interpretation duties for Parent Conferences and other school wide parent, school events/activities for the Director and Principals if needed

* Provide support and assistance in all events, especially the campus tour for visitors.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School or the Vice Principal.
