(Junior) Data Scientist, Product Enhancement

Job Title: Product Enhancement (Junior) Data Scientist

Reports to: Product Enhancement Manager

Business unit: Data Science 

Location:  Shanghai

 

Job Purpose:

As a Product Enhancement (Junior) Data Scientist, this person will be responsible for supporting the piloting and/or roll-out of product enhancements, analyses to resolve issues concerning the roll-out; serving as liaison between commercial team, quality assurance, Product Leadership, operations, and data science teams  

 

Job Responsibilities (List the major responsibilities/outcomes expected of this role)

Supports the roll out of new or enhanced services and ensures sustainability of new initiatives

Works with Product Leadership on scope and specifications of product enhancements,.

Ensure DSci services are delivered to the highest quality standards 

Interfaces with DSci Methods team to understand new methodologies

Works with Methods team on a SOP for roll-out of new method implementation and supports hand-over to Operational departments

Ensuring exhaustive project specifications and realistic project plans are compiled and resources available.

Ability to turn methods and processes into stories our clients can understand and respond to

Ability to use statistical methodologies to analyze the data    

Compiling and delivering documentation material such as powerpoint slides for methodology  and processes used in product enhancements

Works cross team to provide a professional, clear response to all clients.    

Maintains /creates internal and external methodology whitepapers and documents. 

 

Role Requirements (list the critical experience, knowledge, qualifications, skills, and competencies needed to perform this role - over and above standard Nielsen leadership and personal effectiveness competencies). Mark each with E=essential, P=preferred.

 

E - Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operation Research, or other hard sciences (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Physics etc.) with outstanding analytical expertise.

P - Master degree in an above mentioned field

E – SAS or R or other Statistical packages programing skill

P - Some experience in high-level programming language (e.g. Python).

P - Some experience with data visualization tools.

E - Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word

E - Ability to autonomously manage simultaneous projects in a fast paced business environment

E - Broad industry knowledge – good knowledge of client needs

E - Planning and organization
