Engineering Director

This is a senior management position within the company. The suitable candidate will lead the engineering department as Director / manager. He / She should be currently employed in similar engineering management position as a senior manager, a director or a VP position and employed in a large company that employs a staff of engineers.

The engineering director needs to supervise the team of engineers and manage the corporate resources as well. He or she has to work as a head of the larger groups with highly evolved engineering functions. The job calls for someone who has both the technical competence as well as the managerial skills.

Engineering Director/Manager Duties and Responsibilities

The following are duties and responsibilities of an engineering director which are expected to be fulfilled by him or her:

The prime responsibility is to direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects.

He or she needs to ensure the success in meeting respective objectives and goals timely.

The Engineering Manager has the duty to oversee the process of the development of the budget so needs to implement approved engineering budgets and monitor actual expenses to ensure they fall within budgets.

He or she needed to work or negotiate with customer to finalize engineering project’s specifications.

He or she has to work for the best business deals so needs to negotiate with 3rd party engineering suppliers vendors etc.

It will be the duty to present the engineering plans, progress status updates to MD.

He or she has the responsibility to oversee the proposed engineering designs and subsequent product and process.

Overall responsibility for engineering budget, expenses foreing policies and hiring & firing of engineers.

Engineering Director/Manager Skills and Specifications

The required skills and specifications are as follows:

The person must have the excellent organization skills to be highly organized.

He or she should have the supervisory skills to do supervise the work properly.

He or she should have the qualities of being a good leader to manage a team of engineers and technical staff.

He or she should have the ability to perform the multi tasking work.

He or she should be able to work under extreme pressure and with the strict deadlines.

The person needs to have the exceptional analytical and computational skills to do the job.

The person needs to have the excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

The person should have the exceptional interpersonal skills.

Engineering Director/Manager Education and Qualifications

The required skills and specifications are as follows:

· The basic degree required for the job is a master’s degree in the pertinent engineering course.

· Knowledgeable on requirements of TS16949/ISO9001

· It will be an added advantage for the person having over 10 years of past working experience in the pertinent engineering field.

· Preference will be given to candidate with relevant experience or are currently working in a Tier 1 automotive supplier.
