Job Description: Sr. Java

Our business

ICG (Institutional Clients Group) is one of Citi’s core banking business sectors, covers Capital Markets Origination, Corporate and Investment Banking, Markets and Securities Services, Treasury & Trade Solutions, and Private Banking etc.

CSTC (Citigroup Services and Technology (China) Ltd) is Citigroup owned subsidiary in China, as part of Citigroup global technology and operation organization (Citibank China is another Citigroup owned subsidiary in China). It is founded by Citigroup since 2002. It is one of the biggest IT software companies in China, providing both finance IT service and operation services to Citi’s core banking business globally.

CSTC ICG Technology department mainly supports MSS (Markets and Securities Services) of ICG, which is one of the key businesses of investment bank industry globally.

Credit Core Service team develops and maintains framework and common components library to be used by Credit applications. Currently we maintain two major systems: Mirrorlake & Red Queen. Mirrorlake is a disk-based caching and data distribution platform for efficiently and reliably sharing data across applications and processes; leverages Messaging Backbone (Kafkaesque & Tibco EMS) for event delivery; provides an alternate solution to in-memory caches like Gemfire & Tangosol. Combines scalability of Hadoop/HDFS with performance of Columnar Storage. Red Queen is a configurable distributed indexer, which accelerates selective retrieval of records from semi-structured or unstructured data stores. It works seamlessly with existing data stores such as Mirror Lake.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhancement existing core service framework.
• Owns success – Takes responsibility for timeline and good quality of solution deliverables
• Involving into or do system/component design & implementation with counterparty in New York, or other locations
• Explore existing application systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation
• Translates functional requirement or specifications into technical solutions, and implement the solutions with plans and executions
• Communicates continually with the client and project teams – Clarify client’s needs, present tech team ideas and explains progress on the development efforts
• Build good and health customer relationship, and other business/tech stockholders
• Mentor Junior developers on project development.

Additional

Education

• Have a Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, EE, Mathematics or related majors
• With Financial knowledge or background is a plus

Required Technical Skills

• Must be familiar with Core Java, good understanding of Java fundamental
• Must be familiar with one of popular database
• Experience in system/software performance analysis and performance tuning
• Experience on Big Data solution like Hadoop/HBase/Apache Solr is a plus
• Experience on SOAP web service/Restful web service is a plus
• Linux shell skill is a plus

Required Non-Technical Skills

• 3+ years programming experience in Java, good understanding of Java core
• 1+ years programming experience for web application
• Work to tight deadlines and pressure, and enjoy working late with colleagues
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce easily understood technical documentation
• Good team work, work under pressure, manage conflicts and challenges.
• Must demonstrate analytical thinking and problem solving skills

• Have a sound macro view of the working of Global financial markets
• Have a fundamental understanding of the workings of financial institutions, specifically investment banks
