SENIOR MANAGER /ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, INNOVATION HUB CHINA
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, scientists, innovators, entrepreneurs in both academic and business settings, as well as the network of Venture Capitals and incubators in China.
Develop models and identify opportunities for new open innovation partnerships, in close alignment with the Performance Materials, Healthcare, and Life Science sectors and global Strategy & Transformation.
Scout for new opportunities between and beyond the Performance Materials, Healthcare, and Life Science sectors, and novel technologies that deals with China specific challenges.
Secure successful execution of partnerships all the way to achieving the envisioned goals.
Work closely with company Sectors and global Strategy & Transformation on the sourcing evaluation, and execution of external agreements for partnerships and technology in licensing.
Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s competitive landscape in Material Science, Life Science, and Biopharmaceuticals.
Work closely with peers in the sectors, the Innovation Centers in Germany and US, Merck Ventures and New Business Builders to further shape the company’s global external innovation model and enable the business growth and transformation in China.
EDUCATION & LANGUAGES
PhD in materials science or electronics, MBA preferred
Fluent Mandarin and English for verbal and written communications.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3-5 years of (BD or R&D) experience in the fields of advanced materials and/or electronics and semiconductor.
Broad knowledge of the fields of material science is required.
Good know-how in healthcare and/or life science is a plus.
Experience in identifying, evaluating and executing external partnerships and has a good understanding of equity investing.
Extensive network of scientists, key opinion leaders, investors, incubators and entrepreneurs active in the fields of advanced materials and/or electronics and semiconductor.
