Hartland Controls specializes in the design and manufacture of mission critical electrical contactors, class II transformers, capacitors, relays, auxiliary switches and configured assemblies. The cost-effective electrical controls we bring to market are used in HVAC, refrigeration, overhead door, irrigation, welding, water heating, pool and spa, vehicle charging and other aftermarket applications that require reliable starting and safe stopping. Hartland Controls engineers, manufactures and tests electrical components in our Rock Falls, Illinois and Shanghai, China facilities to the most rigorous domestic and international standards. Most important, to ensure the product you need is available right when you need it, Hartland Controls maintains a large inventory of finished product and configurable components in our 152,000 square foot Rock Falls, Illinois facility.

JOB SUMMARY: The Sourcing Engineer will lead efforts in exploring, initiating, developing, and validating opportunities in quality improvements and cost savings and other supply chain related opportunities. The individual in this role will act as the technical interface between suppliers, product development/manufacturing and quality engineers to determine new and alternate sources.
1. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Sets up new suppliers as required facilitating a new business or new product introduction project.
? Ensures supplier capabilities and processes meet design and specification requirements.
? Follows processes and procedures to ensure that technical, environmental, quality, trade and governmental requirements are considered for each assigned project.
? Review supplier’s processes and identify improvement opportunities in processes and systems at supplier locations to improve quality, cost and flow of supplied materials throughout the entire supply chain.
? Work with product development and quality teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to supporting suppliers.
? Interact with product development and quality teams to ensure suppliers are involved in development and review of specifications to promote design for manufacturability.
? Use project management skills and tools to investigate alternate component technologies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implements changes.
? Continuous involvement in the supplier selection process to develop a supply base that provides competitive advantage in quality, value/cost, delivery and technology.
? Conduct supplier system and process audits in compliance with HC’s supplier performance and monitoring goals and objectives.
? Assist with quality problem resolutions.
2. POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
? Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing or Industrial Technology/Engineering. Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with concentration on supplier quality.
? Good interpersonal, project management and presentation skills with the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas and to summarize complex issues.
? Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.
? Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and good understanding and spoken English.
? Highly organized self-starter.
? Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex problems and use good judgment.
? Technical detail-oriented.
? Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements.
? Ability to travel 10-20% of the time, within China.
? Experience with electrical components design and manufacturing.
? Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
