SENIOR MERCHANDISER

Assurance senior & team, Shipping dept., HR Responsible, Product Developer (PD), Product Office
Developer (POD), Purchasing Responsible at Global Purchasing Organization (GPO),
Buyer/Section head at SEBO

Accountability
The Senior Merchandiser is accountable to:
? Motivate, support & educate the team in accordance with company goals/routines
? Secure the supply chain for the product group with the capacity assurance team
? Cooperate with the Product Manager to drive the supply chain to achieve company strategic goals
? Establish method & routine follow up in the team
Main Responsibilities
TEAM LEADER OF MERCHANDISING TEAM (QUOTATION AND PRODUCTION
MERCHANDISERS, R&D)
? Be a good role model / H&M leader and work on building the team into a top performing team
? Evaluate and identify talents through dialogue. Make sure that all staff will develop and grow by
giving & receiving feedback
? Maintain a general overview of the quotation, production merchandisers and R&Ds’ work
performance and their need for education and support
? Ensure that seasonal supplier capacity planning is allied with the long-term strategic plan
? Encourage the team to be proactive, take more initiative, problem solve and share
? Ensure that preorders are customized and optimized
? Set and coordinate team goals in accordance with company goals
? Check & follow the workload of team members
? Coordinate the team’s holidays, travel and education
? Work closely with the Product Manager to secure the strategic plan
? Ensure that the best deals are given to our customers
? Make sure that trends and concepts are clear to every merchandiser, R&D and technician
? Make sure that the whole team is working with the same tools and methods
? Supervise communication with buyers/GPO and suppliers
? Work closely with Senior Technician, Senior Quality Control, Capacity Assurance senior and
Sustainability team to ensure the best product
? Work actively with regard to talent identification, staff development and succession planning
? Identify capability gaps (current and future) and work towards bridging these gaps through
performance management, staff development, strategic recruitment, etc.
? Lead the team by example, always driven by Company values and the ambition to make people
and business grow
? As an H&M leader you should focus on inspiration, delegation, feedback and motivation (other
elements of leadership are further described in the competencies relevant for your role)
COOPERATION WITH OTHER TEAMS
? Secure team work with other depts. to secure the best product for bulk production
? Share experience with the rest of the teams to improve and learn from the mistakes
COOPERATION WITH THE BUYING OFFICE/GPO
? Create a good dialogue with the buyers/section managers in the Buying Office or Purchasing
Responsible at GPO
? Encourage the team to grant more approvals and make decisions in Production
COOPERATION WITH H&M SUPPLIERS
? Maintain good knowledge of H&M suppliers’ price, quality, capacity & lead time
? Evaluate Suppliers’ performance together with the rest of the H&M team. Be involved in capacity
management (planning and evaluation) together with the Product Manager
Education and Experience requirements
? Graduation in Textiles or Business/ Economics preferred
? Preferably eight years of experience with a reputed buying office & garment factories
? Experience in a sourcing or manufacturing company is preferred
Knowledge and Skill requirements
? Relevant product knowledge
? General knowledge of export trade and documentation requirements
? Excellent written and spoken English
? Advanced knowledge of Excel
? Good negotiation and communication skills
? Strong organizational skill
