Hartland Controls specializes in the design and manufacture of mission critical electrical contactors, class II transformers, capacitors, relays, auxiliary switches and configured assemblies. The cost-effective electrical controls we bring to market are used in HVAC, refrigeration, overhead door, irrigation, welding, water heating, pool and spa, vehicle charging and other aftermarket applications that require reliable starting and safe stopping. Hartland Controls engineers, manufactures and tests electrical components in our Rock Falls, Illinois and Shanghai, China facilities to the most rigorous domestic and international standards. Most important, to ensure the product you need is available right when you need it, Hartland Controls maintains a large inventory of finished product and configurable components in our 152,000 square foot Rock Falls, Illinois facility.

Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Shanghai, China

 1. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Executes the supplier improvement strategy (as defined by the Director of Quality).
? Drives supplier performance on quality and delivery.
? Communicates extensively with suppliers to foster a positive partnership while assuring compliance to HC’s drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
? Conducts supplier quality system, process, and product audits.
? Reviews supplier PPAP submissions.
? Works with suppliers on process evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
? Leads team(s) on root cause analysis for quality issues. Acts as a coordinator of the SCAR process (Supplier Corrective Action Request).
? Reviews Control Plans and other supplier documentation for adequacy.
? Supports Supplier Qualification/Approval and problem resolution.
? Performs Source Inspection at suppliers’ site as needed (ultimately eliminating IQC at HC’s warehouses).
? Determines training needs, and provide training as required. The goal is to refine and enhance suppliers’ processes by applying continuous improvement principles and techniques.
? Establishes methods for supplier performance reviews and scorecard.

2. POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
? Four-year engineering degree preferred (industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing focus).
? Experience as a QMS, and process/product auditor.
? Must have 4 to 6 years of experience in Supplier Quality Assurance in a manufacturing setting.
? Must have solid understanding of ISO 9001 management system. Certification as a lead or internal auditor preferred.
? Good communication skills in both oral and written Chinese/English.
? Professionalism and integrity to communicate and work with employees at all levels of the organization.
? Time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities.
? Ability to travel as required.
? Results oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility.
? Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
? Knowledge of purchasing and sourcing activities preferred.
? Knowledgeable with hands on experience in the following tools:
Cpk/Ppk, GR&R, SPC, Control Plans, Sampling Plans, 5S, Statistical Analysis, 5 why’s, Root Cause analysis, Error Proofing, Cause and Effect Diagrams, PDCA, Pareto Analysis, etc.
