The British School of Guangzhou is looking for highly qualified and experienced Art Technician to support our UK qualified teachers in art class.The responsibilities for this position mainly include:

Teaching and Learning
* Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction of the lead teacher.
* To adhere to our policy, procedures and practices relating to Child protection and Safeguarding
* Support teachers in planning for opportunities to incorporate Art into their planning.
* Contribute to the professional development of art skills for all Primary staff, under the direction of the Head of Art and Primary
       management.
* Provide support for individuals and groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom
* Undertake some teaching tasks with groups of pupils, with support from lead teachers
* To encourage and support the skills of independence and self reliance
* Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress/achievement under the guidance of the teacher
* Provide feedback to teachers, on pupil progress and performance through verbal or written notes
* Use personal expertise to enhance children’s learning experiences.
* To advise as appropriate in the compilation of reports by the teacher.
* Discuss planning objectives with the teachers on a regular basis.
* Follow school assessment procedures when providing students with feedback on their work.
* To take a proactive approach towards continuous professional development

Managing Resource
* Select appropriate resources to support learners in achieving teaching objectives.
* Ensure Primary Art resources are appropriately stored.
* Ensure resources levels are sufficient to support the delivery of art across Primary.
* To be actively involved in ordering and sourcing art resources within China
* To be responsible for the Primary art room & ensure it gives a well-organised positive impression

Art Room Management
* Checking of stock in the art room
* Tidying and sorting at appropriate times
* Clean down of surfaces after/before lessons or as required
* Keep sinks organized
* Liaise with maintenance staff and cleaning staff

Creative Assistance
* Photocopying / scanning
* Photographing and documenting artworks
* Occasional 1:1 assistance/support for pupils where appropriate

Others
* Assist in creating a high quality learning environment and ensure displays of work meet the high expectations set out in the school’s display policy
* Provide opportunities to discuss displays with the students and promote a sense of pride in students whose work is selected for display.
* Ensure that displays clearly explain the learning objectives to visitors.
* To assist with the running of Art specific ASA in the Primary phase.
* Assist with supervising pupils during break per week and lunch times as per the school timetable
* Act as a role model to the pupils in your personal presentation and conduct.
* To make every effort to attend school events and promote the good name of the school within the wider community.
* To meet statutory responsibilities and company policies with regard to Health and Safety.

The following are considered essential for all applicants:
* A bachelor’s degree or higher
* Excellent spoken and written English
* A minimum of 1 years relevant work experience
* Ability to use basic computer software including Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
* A flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school
